2011 trade in deal good or not.
2011 trade in deal good or not.
so i am thinking of trading my 07.5 6.7 mega cab,6spd--59k miles excellent condition ( just did all the ujoints front and rear, south bend dual disk at 36k,and has h&s delete kit--trade in dealer does not care as long as i give them all the stock stuff which i have.
They are offer 26k for my truck and the truck i am getting is a 2011,crew cab long box laramie fully loaded nav,etc...
2011 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie Crew w/8' Box, mineral gray metallic. MSRP $54,535 - Disc.$4,950 = $49,585 - Reb $3,500 = $46,085 - Trade $26,000 = $20,085 Trade difference. Mopar Tube Steps and Line-X spray in liner add $1,150 + pay off for your vehicle.
any one think its a good deal.

$26K for your truck seems very low but trade-ins will not bring much. You also should get more then $8450 off the new truck since sales are slow. I saw a 07.5 MC 3500 DRW at the dealer a few days ago and they are asking $32500 but not sure what the book shows.
You're not going to get as much off a 2011 as a 2010. I got $5004 below MSRP - all rebates (which was $3500 total for me) for a total of $8500 off MSRP. Your price seems pretty good. Check out the Kelly Blue Book for your trade in and go off that. You might have to twist their arm on the price but they should honor the KBB trade in value....
here is the kbb trade in value.
Condition Value
Excellent
$27,650
Good
$26,450
Fair
$24,350
if they come back with a very good interest rate and payment i think i may try it. i know private party price is around 33k.

I'd tell them you really aren't interested in having a higher payment. I'd get them to knock the price down some and also shop for some financing, they can probably come down another $1,000.
But really if your truck has any 'higher' mileage on it I'd jump all over the deal and just put a little cash into the deal to get the payment down if they won't budge.

If as Red says the trade smells of "higher" mileage, then you may want to accept the value - but if not, I'd hold out for more as diesels are still commanding a higher return. (and altho the dealer says they don't care as long as you give them the stock stuff - see if they're taking a little off for putting that stuff back on)
There is $15K of profit in a loaded dually so don't think u r getting a good deal. I would hold out for $10k of the msrp plus your trade in and 0% financing. People laughed at me when I told them what I was holding out for in 07 but I got it. I walked out on at least 10 dealers before I got it.
You can always insist on "30 days same as cash" - that way they know you're going to try and find a better deal and more often than not, it will cause them to dig a little deeper to get you a better deal on the financing. Remember, they're marking up the money cost (financing) also - get that down as low as you can.

Or I just might keep it forever, ha.

It all depends if the dealer needs to move vehicles. I bought my 08 in June 08 with a build date of 11/07. They were not moving many at that time. Sticker was 51,500 and I got it for 32k plus tax and license. They even through in oil changes for life. It took 5 hours of negotiating with them and myself getting up to leave. I went in with what I wanted to pay and told them another dealer in a state next door was willing to let it go for that. I would wait and let the new model play out to end and go negotiate next fall. Unless you have money to burn.
