2011 NAV Mygig Backup Cam Install
2011 NAV Mygig Backup Cam Install
Just bought a new 2011 LBCC 3500 DRW 4x4. It came with the standard CD Radio with Sirius. I do not care so much about the NAV but really like the convenience of the backup cam with the monitor in the dash.. I would like to buy a used NAV unit to swap in my truck, I have already located a dealer on ebay selling the backup cam kit but a bit fuzzy about the correct NAV unit for the Dash. I have heard on the web that the 2011 model NAV systems might be different than previous RER models and not sure if I need low speed or high speed Bus etc... Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Although I cannot say with 100% confidence, for the 2011 models, I believe it is a High Speed Bus that you will need. I am looking at putting a RER/REN in my 2010 (as I did not get the radio suite I wanted when I bought the truck) and everything I have read has pointed me towards the high speed models. Hope this helps.
Another option, although it won't look stock would be to install an Edge Insight and their back-up camera. This might be the cheaper route to go in the end being that I think a dealer has to "flash" your truck for the camera to work once you get it installed with the different radio head.
A good friend of mine updated is 08 with the MyGig from the Cherokee line of units and got a really neat camera for his licence plate. Its so thin that you can't tell it even has a camera in the plate rim and is so crystal clear. Also upgrading this way, you don't loose the camera if you have the tailgate down or take it off with your camper.
