2010 trailor brake controller

I just got a 2010 with built in brake controler, when I plug up to a trailor a no trailor brake light comes on. Brakes worked fine on old dodge . Anyone had this problem yet? Dealer had no idea told me to watch the CD about truck and then if I didn't figure it out just drop it off with them!

The DVD has a ph. # to call for full paper manual. Much better IMO.

Don't know about your brake problem. Mine works fine.

Must be the way you have the brakes wires up on the trailer.

Are you using a 7 pin or a 6 pin with a converter to go to your trailer?

Working fine now, pulled it down the road and is working great, maybe a bad ground.

Kind of hijacking the thread here, Does anyone know if Dodge has an adapter on the built in brake controller for use with elect/hydraulic trailer brakes? Ford and Chevy do.

They make a pigtail adapter so you can install an aftermarket controller in place of the factory controller without having to cut into the factory harness. Still have mine in the glove box waiting for someone to start selling the maxx brake again.

Yep, I sometimes have the same issue. My camper does it periodically when I first hook up my camper brakes/lights cable to the truck, and my gooseneck trailer will periodically lose brakes/lights connection while driving down the road. It's happens on multiple trailers, so I have no doubt it is a wiring issue with my truck. I just don't know how best to diagnose the issue.
