XRT Pro torque management vs reverse lights

I just found out from H&S that the reason my reverse lights do not work is because I have disabled torque management.
Anyone know how to remedy this without enabling torque management?

So..driving in reverse in the dark with the torque management off will break something?

If you hit something very likely.
The lights work quite well to prevent this in my dark, rural setting....hence my concern.
