starting to hate my truck, help

So this weekend I'm pulling the fifth wheel and tag trailer and can't even maintaiIn 65-70 on small hills. Truck is deleted and has h&s tuner with a manual trans. Any ideas, with tuner on mild it hits 33-34lbs boost and de-fuels and I'm scared to push it any further. I just feel like this truck should pull better, I don't remember ever feeling underpowered with any of my 5.9 trucks.
Please help with any suggestions before I get mad and trade this thing in on a Ford.

You're pulling a 5th wheel AND a tag trailer at 65-70! on small hills and you're wondering why it's so slow?
You're kidding right?
Sounds like you need a real long legged Top Kick with a CAT and an Allison trans to me.

Keep an eye on your clutch, it can't take much more power than stock, perhaps it's slipping, I think the stock limit for boost is 36 psi, I increased mine to that and it made a difference. Just curious what your EGT's were and if you have a defuel set for EGT? As for power I run only mild and can pull my 13,700lb GVWR rv easily up mountain passes at those speeds, I do use the gears though and maintain a decent EGT.

It has a new fuel filter. egt's are only around 850 to 900 and the clutch doesn't feel like it's slipping.
The 5th wheel is only 31ft and weights about 10k and the tag trailer is a 6x10 with a rzr on it so not really that heavy and yes I do expect more from this truck
thanks for any info

Try changing the boost limit to 36psi, what tune are you running and are you using Aggressive turbo tune, I took the aggressive TT off because it spooled so quickly that the mini kept defueling, I'm using 6.8.31 non aggressive TT. Just thought you are not speed limited to 70mph are you?

I'll have to check to see what tune it is on and also check the turbo tune. It does build boost really fast and goes into defuel
I don't think it is speed limited. Thanks for the help I really like the truck just don't like the way it pulls, I have even swapped from 35" tires to 33" to see if that makes a difference. I was also thinking maybe I need to turn off the torque management?

Definitely turn off the torque management, we tried it on my sons manual but quickly turned it off, if your EGT's are that low the engine is not working, something is holding it back.

that's what it feels like, in 5th gear at 2200 to 2500rpm it just feels like something is holding it back.

I can't help you but your post has prompted a few questions...

1) What is torque management? And how do you turn it off?

2) I see people saying to change the boost limit. How is that accomplished? I don't see the option for that with my H&S.

I'm not an expert but torque management is only on the manual trucks, I suspect it's there to protect the less than stellar clutch and keep the truck in a straight line when accelerating, the mini maxx gives the option to turn off the torque management.

The mini maxx and I believe black maxx have the ability to set defuel points for coolant temp, boost pressure, road speed, EGT, and possible some I've missed off the top of my head, I don't think the XRT pro has those capabilities.

Well I uploaded the latest software from h&s last night, also turned torque management off and changed boost defuel to 35. The truck acts like it is running
stronger, just hope the head gasket survives. For whatever reason it's not building boost so rapidly now but feels better. I'll have to wait until i hook up to the 5th wheel for a test run.

Glad things are looking up, hope it works out for you. Just remember- a Ford with a manual trans won't perform any better (because they don't make them anymore).

Make sure you didn't get the "aggressive Turbo" tune.

I think I have the mild turbo setting, not real sure where the choice is for the turbo setting.
I'll give it a few months before I think about trading it in, I don't really want a payment.
