morning guys,
going to be doing a few upgrades, would like some opinions on what
you guys think, and/or have expereinced yourselves.
2011 1 ton crew cab long box - laramie, 373 gears; going to be 20" rims
w/ 35" tires; do probably 50/50 highway/gravel rd,lease rd,bush driving
lift - 6" bds long arm
shocks - bilstein?? / fox ??
cold air intake - afe stage 2? - round one or conical? oiled or dry?
5" exhaust
egr and dpf deletes
h&s mini max tuner
upgraded head bolts
would like to hear good/bad about any of the selections above
what would some of the next steps to improve engine/mileage
performance(not looking for huge hp gains) intercooler?,
fuel delivery(fasspass)?,
i know lots of questions in 1 post sorry,
thanks for your time

General consensus is the cold air intake and the 5" exhaust aren't worth it. I don't know anything about the BDS lift. Other than that I think you're putting together a great package in my opinion.
Agreed with the above, wouldnt bother with 5' pipe or an intake... Stock boxes on these move plenty of air and the 5' pipe probably isnt going to do much for you unless you plan on spending a lot of time over 600hp.. Post some pics when your done!
What kind of driving do you do? If it's mostly paved stuff BDS is ok, if you use your truck off road I'd look into Carli or Thuren suspension. They cost more because they make the real deal suspension set-ups

Sounds like a great package, but I agree with the others about the CAI. I'm contemplating on going back to stock. I really think my mileage was better with the stocker. The S&B looks good though...plus I can't stand oiled filters...

yeah i am not a big fan of oiled filters either, that why i thought afe stage 2 as they have a dry filter, but maybe i will leave it alone for now and see how it is
with the exhaust i thought you have to add a delete pipe in anyways when you do the dpf delete? i thought i might as well put
a bigger exhaust on anyways, maybe i am mistaken about the delete, just getting into what can be done with the new truck

My thoughts... if you are operating in similar conditions to my son you may want to use tire chains on the rear at times on the ice roads, you must have stock tires for this. You don't say if you have an auto or manual trans but either way if you do not delete you will have horrible oil change intervals and terrible engine oil dilution from unburned fuel along with O2 sensor fault codes, these trucks just do not operate in the middle of nowhere where you can't get enough heat to complete a regeneration of the DPF even with the full winter front closed up tight. I would stay with the factory air filter box and use the Wix filters from Amsoil, also I would do the cabin air filter mod right away before spring, get the cover from the dealer and the best price for the filter from NAPA. see link. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d-t284729.html

Unless you are looking for mind numbingly loud, stay away from the 5" with no muffler. Its loud. Really loud.
Toss in a 2nd gen swap and it becomes scare small children loud.
Sounds awesome, but, lately ive been driving way too long way to often and its become a couple ticks above aggravating.
This weekend its going back to 4" into the stock muffler.
Dont bother with an intake just for mild mods, unless you just really really want it.
