Not true.

The 68RE works hand in hand with the exhaust brake. RPM's must be determined as a function of braking, and when to stop braking, when to down shift, etc. One can function without the other, but they play so nice together.

With the G56, it would just need an RPM signal for a bottom end to stop braking.

Ive tossed around the idea of an aftermarket exhaust brake, wired in using the factory EB button just for it being a clean type install. I may do it, but its not high on the priority list right now.

Id bet my truck would sound killer with on though.

But with the 68rfe tranny you have to have your foot on the brakes in order for it to downshift whereas with the g56 you just have to rev the engine up for downshifting into the next gear. Believe me manuals are better for "jaking" down hills and everything. I should know cuz I use to drive the trucks in the oil patch of ND for about a year

not true. if i'm coasting down a hill in full auto with the EB on and in tow/haul mode the truck will downshift all by itself to keep cruise control speed in check

...or you can just hit the "-" (minus) button on the shift stalk. Much easier than clutching a down-shift in manual.

Can anybody tell me what length of shocks do I need for a 2 1/2" leveling kit and 1" rear lift block. The bilstein 5100 is what I would like to go with

The stock shock length works with the 2 1/2" leveling kit.

Well the ride is a lot rougher than it use to be so that's why I'm wondering if it isn't the shocks, that aren't the problem

When you get your deletes done, make sure you install a EGT Guage. I have a friend that is now driving a 2011 Chevy 3500 (Stock) pulling a 37ft Mobile Suites.

He had a 2008 Dodge with all the deletes completed. Used a Smart Jr set up on the max setting. He had know way to monitor the EGT's and said he did not need it. He left Gilroy CA headed to Las Vagas. When he got to Las Vagas
pullin his Carriage Fifth Wheel, he had blow the head gasket. Because of the deletes he had to drive the truck back to Texas, to his house, reinstall everything and took it to the dodge dealer where it was fixed. He traded it
the next day. Said he did not want to mess with that anymore. He says the 2011 chevy pulls as good as the Dodge did with the deletes running the way it was.

This was not a cheby commercial, just the facts.

I use to be a diesel mechanic for 18 wheelers and John Deere tractors. In all of my automobiles I put gauges in them. Not only for looks but also to see what the engine is doing and if its low, normal, or high on anything. But I will put auto meter gauges in here for boost, pyro, and fuel pressure
