different idea for dpf delete

I am new to this truck and this dpf stuff, so this may be off the wall, but it seems to me that just removing the dpf pipe and gutting it would stop all the regen stuff and would also remove the restrictions.

all the sensors and junk could be left in place, and the truck would appear stock.

Am I crazy? Has anybody tried this?

Thanks,
Russ

You would get lots of codes thrown with that.

I'm sure no one has tried that

You need sensor simulators or a programmer to delete it....programmer is the only GOOD option

Chris (or anyone else),

Can you give more details on the sims? i know how to get them, I know where they go, but I haven't found any good feedback on how they work. I'm looking to kill regen and the DPF. I hate tunes because I just don't need them. I figure if I used sims, all I have to do is plug them back in for a trip to the dealer. I'm thinking its hard to void an engine warranty if the only thing you did was toss the dpf.

If you want to appear stock buy somebody else's dpf and gut it and keep yours....they are way too expensive to replace if you decide to go back. You can do what you're talking about but as has been stated you will need sims or a programmer. If you touch/screw with ANY part of the emissions system the computer will know it and depending on what you do will put the truck in limp mode.

Thanks for the responses. That is what I think I am going to do. Get a dpf pipe and cut it apart, gut it, then weld it back together and re-install it.

I have already ordered my H&S prgramer (XRT Pro) and have build my 4 inch straight pipe to replace the dpf pipe until I can find a replacement that I can gut.

I was really suprised to see that these companies charge people 160 dollars or more for the dpf replacement pipe. That seems like taking advantage to me.

I'll just stick my dpf pipe out back in case I need it later on.....I am hoping I will not.

Thanks again for the responses.

let us know how it works. I have thought about this, programmer for canceling codes, and a gutted dpf in case the testing people look under truck. Around here, on gas at least, the emmision ***** look for codes, check your fuel cap, and put a mirror down to check exhaust tampering. They used to put something in the tailpipe, but now they just go by the obd.
