Here are some pictures.

I know exactly what you mean. I did not want to replace my hitch so as I mentioned the truck absolutely had to have the prep group from factory. And then it was a battle trying to get a correct answer as to what I would need to make it work as the hitch shop guys did not know what would all be needed. I have a friend that works at a big RV dealer in Calgary that looked into it for me and got it all figured out (a huge thanks went out to him).

I think all the advantages of a 5th wheel or gooseneck would disappear and you would complicate the idea of just a bumper pull.

I have a 2010, MEGA Cab,6'4" Box, and a B&W Companion 5er, The 5ver, is 34' and weights 12,5. I am not sure of the pin weight, but will be sure very soon. I am still trying to figure out this machine. I got out of a 7.3 Ford Lariat, where I had a Reese 16k,fixed 5th wheel.
I am a driver and like to make running time, and will run the speed limit and then some. Can't really tell you too much about the B&W, yet. I haven't had to slide it back and I have to jack knife my truck and trailer to put the trailer in the hole at home. I know that to be a fact. I think alot of that short bed can be handled by the pin box you have on your 5er. and also transfer some of that weight back to the trailer axels. I will let you know how all that works out.
