2013 or 2014 dpf and egr delete question

I have done lots of looking and reading but I am not finding the answer I am looking for to satisfy my mind. On the 2013 or 14 that uses the DEF fluid can you still do a dpf and egr delete and somehow not have to use the DEF fluid? Just trying to figure out if I should buy a 2012 or older that I know I can do those performance modifications to. I prefer to have the newer interior of the 2013 and 2014.

I had the same thoughts. I went ahead and got a 2010 so I wouldn't have to worry about it. I hope you can find what your wanting. I looked at a few places for parts because I almost got a 2013 and the only exhausts I could find we're dpf back. So I came to the conclusion that it's either impossible or too much of a hassle. Good luck in your search though

No, it is almost impossible to do. The 2013 and beyond trucks have been redesigned to meet the latest round of emissions and improve the fuel mileage on them. The trucks have less EGR than the 2007.5 to 2012 trucks taking place and the NOx filter was eliminated on them. This means there is less regeneration taking place now in the exhaust system. What they have done is embraced the SCR and the DPF along with a catalytic convert in the exhaust system. The dosing of the DEF is ahead of the DPF to provide the emission treatment along with some regeneration that takes place. The EGR coolers on the new 2013 and up trucks are not required to be service any more like the older models were.

On several other web sites the 2013 and up trucks models have been well received with some early issues with the emissions that have been corrected by now by Chrysler. So before you go off and rush to delete let’s see how they perform in the long run, I waited two years before I deleted my 08.

With the power and mpgs numbers the 2013 are putting out I really don't see a need to delete. But that's just me.....

Thanks guys for the replys. Has anyone heard what kind of mileage to kind of expect out of a 3500 Mega Cab 4x4 just running empty down the highway? Think it could get 17 mpg? Or maybe a little higher before doing any kind of modifications? May not be any reason to modify a new truck.

Here is what one user of the 2013 Ram has reported on his fuel mileage; which you may not be able to achieve or you might be able to.

16-18 Mpg around town unloaded. 21-23 Mpg Highway unloaded. 18-20 Mpg towing an empty 27' boat trailer 16-17 Mpg with a 22' fishing boat on trailer. It's used about 4. 5 gal of DEF in the 6075 miles that I now have on it. RAM got it right with this truck.

Now here is the thread that was posted on Turbo diesel Register. Com site.

17 is what I am getting with my truck. My 2006 6pd truck got its best mileage at 60. My 2013 auto is good up to about 73 or so.

when my truck was stock 2013 2500 megacab I would get 17mpg's no problem. I could get 19 on the HWY grandma driving.

now that I am on 38's 17 mpg's is the max I can ever get with my juice on it and that is speed limit driving.

the main reason to delete the 13/14 (if they were availible) is parts for these systems are expensive.

with my BD throttle booster and my juice in level 6 w/ juice timing I can melt my 38's through 3 gears on a 10psi boosted launch.

My new 2014 3500 megacab has 200 miles on it, but it's getting 18.5 back and forth to work in semi stop amd go, and this weekend on the way up north it is reporting 19-22mpg on flatland. I'm avging 19.5mpg for the tank...back and forth to work and 125 mile trip. Its REALLY good compares to my 06.

Remimds me...my sig is wrong.

I heard talk the other day of a "solution" to the soot problems on the 2013/14 trucks, my son's 2013 is just over a year old and he's now having his second DPF cleaning done by the dealer, his truck needs the solution asap I'll post if one becomes available to us, he's almost at 100,000ml driving but he has a 50/50 split idle vs drive time.

Check out Hardaway Performance. Reports are they have a possible solution. There are others that are supposed to be really close but they are the only ones that have it confirmed.

Thanks for the heads up I'll check it out, the one I heard about seems like a local thing perhaps for the oil patch.

I say go with it I love my 14 yesterday hauling a 35ft stock trailer with 4 1300lb bulls in the trailer on the way home hills and all I got between 10.5 to 11mpg hand calculated, these new systems are so much less restrictive then the first year 6.7 motors. I hate the older system so much were getting rid of my wifes 08 soon, the def so painless its borning haha.
