It came out on TDR....

Here's some info from the article.

The 3500 will have up to a 30,000lbs tow rating and a GCVW rating of up to 37,600 lbs! The GCWR is now nearly 7000lbs more then it's closest competitor.

The 2500 tow rating will go up to 18,350 lbs, from it's current of 15,500 lbs and GCWR will be up to 25,000 lbs from 22,000lbs

Numbers on the 2013 3500 look out of this world and the new 2500 is stepping into where the '12 3500 is.

I wish they would have payload numbers listed, but none released yet... I hope it's sooner rather then later.

Haha, would be nice if they'd let you build one on the stupid website, rather than trying to pawn off the overabundance of 2012's they dumped on lots prior to 12/31. Not that I wouldn't take a heavily discounted 2012, but I'd rather try a 2013.

You guys beat me to the punch...

http://www.autoweek.com/article/2013...n=awdailydrive

The GCWR is increased by 25%!!?! I guess that fits with what the owners been saying all along on forums like this: these trucks are capable of far more than the advertised limits (can't imagine that a few frame and powertrain tweaks made for a 25% increase....)

I guess engineering and marketing finally beat down the legal dept. at Ram.

I guess the new GCWR increases only help for 5th wheel towing (as the only ones who care about the increased GCWR will be pulling with a 5th wheel/GN anyway). The class 5 hitch on the 2013s aren't rated any higher than the 2012s according to Pickuptrucks.com

HD Class Leaders

Max conventional towing — Chevrolet Silverado HD 3500: 18,000 pounds

Max conventional towing — Ford F-450 Super Duty: 18,500 pounds

Max conventional towing — 2013 Ram 3500 HD: 17,000 pounds

Max fifth-wheel towing — Chevrolet Silverado HD 3500: 23,000 pounds

Max fifth-wheel towing — Ford F-450 Super Duty: 24,500 pounds

Max fifth-wheel towing — 2013 Ram 3500 HD: 30,000 pounds

I saw an article yesterday on Fox News that Dodge had a Truck that would tow 15 tons. It had pictures of the 3500. Now I kinda don't know if 30,000lbs is correct for the 3500. I would believe Gross Combined of 30,000lbs, Truck and Trailer.

The Dodge Long Hauler was advertised at 37,500lbs Combined truck and Trailer and that was a 5500 Mega Cab Long Box.

Guess we will have to wait and see want it really is. I gonna hit the builder site later tonight and see wants there. I really want to know what the
Drive train is about on the 3500.

No need to wait. Chrysler had a press release out, earlier today, that says GCWR is 37,600 lbs, with a tow rating of 30,000 lbs. Basically, it's the Long Hauler, but in a 3500 body.

I always get a laugh from the numbers they put out, they must quote 2wd standard cab and chassis because there is no way a 4X4 crew cab with fuel and only a driver equipped to tow 30,000lbs weighs 7600lbs can't wait to see the truck though, my son want's, no NEEDS one in the worst way. Wonder how soon B&W will have a goose hitch for it or if the factory will offer one. I checked the build site yesterday and it was still 2012.s

The truck Ram is advertising is a 3500 Regular Cab 4x2 long bed (ST or Tradesman) with the 385/850 Cummins, Aisin tranny and 4:10 rear.

Payload is 6580 lbs
GCWR = 37,600 lbs
Trailering Equip weight = 30,010 lbs.

It's hard to believe, but if you go with the 68RFE tranny, even with 4:10 rear the numbers change to below.

Payload is 6730 lbs
GCWR = 27,00 lbs
Trailering Equip weight = 22,560 lbs.

Still respectable, but that Aisin must be one heluva transmission!

It appears the Class 5 "bumper hitch" (rear-frame mounted hitch) is the weak link, and perhaps how it mounts to the frame.

It must be if it weighs 150lbs more than the 68. Some pretty impressive payload figures being thrown around but I still would like to see the GVWR and actual curb weight numbers for 4X4 CC.

It was fairly easy to change out the factory hitch on my 2011 but even the Reese class 5 still tops out at 18500lbs. I can see them going with a more conventional hitch design this time though.

I don't want to be pulling anything including a fiver, unless it had disc brakes that weighed 30,000 lbs with a truck that weighs 7000 lbs. And even then it's crazy.

The Crew Cab 8ft bed 3500 4x4 is going to go at least 9000 lbs with a load of fuel, passengers, hitch. With a 30,000 lb trailer its GCWR is almost 40K. So I don't expect much more than a 27,500lb trailer rating for the 3500 CC 4bye.

Anybody heard if its a 6 speed or an 8 speed? What Rear Gearing is offered and what size Ring gear.

Dave

I know its gonna be a 11.8 inch ring gear. Diesel Power magazine had a thing about it.
