Soot level relearn / ECU - anyone hear of this?

I recently heard about something called a "soot level relearn" that needs to be done on the ECU after a forced regen to tell the ECU the soot has been cleared since supposedly the ECU cannot tell when a regen has been completed. Does anyone have any insight on this? I was lead to believe it can be done outside the dealer without a dealer-level scanner like a witech or snap-on. Though my previous understanding is the ECU codes cannot be accessed without a dealer level scanner. Anyone hear of this soot relearn process? I don't need to do it now but planning ahead. Thanks.

Did you ever find and answer? I have heard there is a way to "recalibrate" the exhaust pressure differential switch using a code reader but have not been able to confirm. I replaced my faulty switch, but i still have issues with it throwing the P2453 code. I read somewhere that the computer needs to learn the new "baseline" numbers after the switch is replaced.
