So if i get a 2500 with 3.73 gears

As the title says, I am likely going to order a 2500 crewcab/longbox with 3.73 gears and manual transmission.
A couple questions, whats the cruising RPM at say 100 kms/hr (62 MPH)?
If passing, what is its top speed?
Thanks

The 3.42 gears are stock, but i just wondered if they would make it struggle when towing in high gear.

You got a 68re. Big difference with the 3.73's.

I can't wait to hook my trailer up to my new Ram and see how it rolls for myself!

I spent 10 hours behind the wheel of my fuurd today and feel like I've been beat up. Towed a max speed of 65mpg getting 6-7mpg - uggg!

What where you towing and how heavy?

To the OP, I dont regret the 3.73 gears. When you load it down, youll be happy its there.

A 35' travel trailer. 9200lbs. Stop and go - mostly stop. More 10 mph creeping than I've done in three years. Should have been a 5 hour move, not 10 hours.

I have the Auto and 3.42's...if I had got the manual, I wouldn't even think about the other options. Go 3.42, and if you have to when towing heavy, drop to 5th gear. 5th gear with 3.42's is basically like 4.10's and OD.

And this is towing at 30K+ gross weights...my empty trailer weighs 9K lbs!

Also consider your future plans when it comes to tires, the 3.42 is good IF you plan to keep the factory sixe tires, but a 3.73 with 315's would put you in the 3.42 range.

I love my 3.73's, and I run larger tires, get good fuel mileage, and have plenty of power. I use 5th gear in the mountains anyway, but do run 6th on the flats.

In my 1st gen I have 3.07's. When I had the 4 speed auto towing I was always in between gears. With a 6 speed manual I have in it now I can really keep up towing. With that newer motor making more power stock than mine does turned way up you should be good with the 3.42's
