Service Def
My 15 2500 Service Def came on @ 33,000 miles. Got the usual 150 miles till limp mode. Off to the dealer I go, and they came back with the Def injector is bad, but the part is back ordered. Called Chrysler care, opened a case, nice person express shipped part to dealer, who promptly replaced it. As it was not their first Rodeo, they asked if they could take an extended test drive, just in case. Low and behold, the Def service came back on, and they are back to diagnose mode.
8 Days and counting. Really miss my 06

Latest is now they are checking the wiring continuity, and two other modules. They think the next step is opening a Star case to talk to the engineers. Never fun when you call in and the service department says. oh, that truck.

And the morning of day 14 I get a call from the dealer. He says the Def is contaminated. Since I have put nothing but def into the def hole, I do not know how that is? He also says that to keep the warranty , the whole system need to be replaced. I have no idea how much that will cost, but he says it is on me. I used to love that truck..sigh

Sorry to hear about your problem but you may want to get a sample and have it annualized to see what exactly is in there, if you say you have only put DEF into the tank then either the DEF was at fault or it was vandalized, in which case you may be able to claim on your insurance.

Def just analyzed, they think it was an additive in the wrong hole. Sigh. 3300 plus tax, and I honestly cannot say it was vandals ( I am my own agent). Live and learn I guess

Reading this post got me a bit worried about our silly Oregon ways of having gas attendants pump for us. How easy is it for someone to cross contaminate?

If you use a fuel additive that is your largest risk, as you will need a funnel. I believe that was what happened, and in Oregon (on the way through). Without a funnel, and with you standing right there, the risk is zero. If you just assume (yup, that's me) you get a 3100 dollar lesson. Do your own additive, make sure it goes in the fuel tank and be attentive is my new motto! :-)

And Now @ 38.700 miles on the way back from the dealer after an oil change, I get the dreaded check engine light. Turn around and take it back. Code is P20EE, which I believe has to do with the Cat? Service rep just sighed, get me an appointment and said if I get the countdown again, come get a rental. I am about done with this truck

If it was me I would be looking at deleting the truck and be done with it., could have done it for a lot less than the repair bill was. Good luck which ever way you choose.

They replaced the injector seal @ 38,700 and the P20EE code came back at 40,400. Now they are replacing the particulate filter. I really miss my 06..

It is not the particulate filter that is causing your problem. The P20EE code is setting because the SCR cat is bad. Read the service bulletin which will explain what needs to be done to fix your truck. You are not the first one to put something other then DEF fluid in the DEF tank. I can say for a fact that many people have made this same mistake. The first time I saw where Chrysler put the DEF fill I said this is going to cause major problems and it has.

Oregon's law requiring the station attendant to pump your fuel for you applies only to Class I Flammable Liquids. Diesel is not flammable, by definition, it is combustible. Their law pertains only to gasoline at the stations. The station itself, on its own, may refuse you to pump your own diesel. I have pumped my own at some stations and had to watch attendants at others.
Just tell the attendant "I'll fill my own with diesel, thanks" and you should be fine.
Back to morning brew . . .

Big Iron 70, you are correct, they did replace scr cat. They are covering it under warranty (thank God). There isn't anything else we can replace. I too think the def filler location is a really bad idea, and wish they would move it. I think that under the hood like GM would be a wiser choice.

@FMB, after 4 trips to the dealer, you can be assured that I will closely monitor and I have Red Danger tape on Def fill. Won't happen again on my watch. :-)
