Mileage and honesty check
I hope this is the place for this, if not feel free to move it.
This is for 6.7 trucks only. Lets put up some real world honest mileage numbers before and after deletes. If you feel the need to be dishonest please don't post on this thread. I'll go first.
2009 3/4, 6.7 auto 3.73 gears, 4x4. 14-15 high way and 11-12 pulling a trailer with boat , 800 max. Bone stock.
I'm considering doing the Calif deletes and need to have real hand calculated numbers. Thanks....

I have an 2008, 2500HD Mega Cab, auto, 4X4, with 3:73 gears. I have found numbers all over the map. There maybe many reasons for this such as SRW vs a DRW truck, Regular Cab VS a Mega Cab mass of truck. Driving styles fast off the line, slow off the line, pulling a trailer or just highway mileage only. These may account for some of the different mileage reports. Other may be reading the overhead and reporting this. I do not know, just what I have seen.
Now with this being said I can only report what my real world experience is.
I have tracked my mileage from the first day that I bought my truck in Nov,07. My driving style is mostly fast off the line and with that being 60% in the city, under 45 MPH. I do tow a 5er that is 12 feet tall in the camping season and I do use winter fuel for at least 5 months a year.
My first year of driving I averaged 11.59 MPG, with a stock 6.7L engine.
The second year I averaged 13.11 MPG, deleting the emission equippment 3/4 of the way in to the second year. Smarty on CaTCHER level 14 Sw setting 3, with every thing set to default. The three year I have seen 14.17 MPG, all on CaTCHER level 14, setting 3. Did not change for the year. I am now using CaTCHER level 23, setting 3,Timing at level 2 every thing set to default. My mileage so far is 14.83 MPG.
I hope this make sense and sorry for the long post.

For me, before the deletes, I was getting 11.5 in town, empty (if I kept my foot out of it). On the highway empty, I was getting 16.5. Towing our 6k camper, I was getting 11. This is all on summer fuel.
I did the California style deletes (thanks mega-engr) and now my intown mileage is 15.5 empty, my highway mileage empty is just shy of 20. My towing mileage went up only to 11.5.
This truck has 70k on it so it good and broken in.
Is it worth to do the deletes? In my opinion, yes. My business requires me to do LOTS of intown driving and the constant regens and having to drive on the highway because the overhead says "REGENERATION REQUIRED NOW" was starting to cost me customers (yes I had all the latest updates). Another plus is the clean oil. Now, when I change my oil, I let it drain for a day, but it stays clean for 2,000 miles of in town driving.

I don't have any pre-delete figures since I bought the truck the way it is currently, but I just got back to Ohio from TN with the bed of the truck fully loaded with tools and equipment and also towing a 20' long Corn Pro trailer loaded with farm implements. The truck was squatting. I got 12.9 mpg hand calculated on the one full tank that I burned. I ran the truck on level 4 of the Edge Juice w/attitude programmer, tow/haul mode, and the exhaust brake always in use. This is the most amazing truck I have ever owned.

Just got done on a full tank of fuel with the deletes and getting 15 city and right at 19.5 highway. So far it was great doing the deletes. I also started running 2 stroke after the deletes just like I did in my 3rd Gen.

Busboy - those are US gallons. So far I'm REALLY impressed with this truck, it does everything I ask it to. I just wish it handled better in the tight corners, I miss our Sentra SER. But for towing, its incredible.
