Maintenance diff 06 to 15

I have an 06 I bought new and am looking at getting a new truck. I like being able to do my own fuel filter changes in 10 min and oil changes. Are the ctd still like this or will I be dropping mega coin each time? Has the ride gotten any better unloaded?

I don't know about the new models but I have a 2010 2500 new to me last year & I'm no mech but I'm like you I like to do my own oil changes and I changed all fluid in it including the fuel filter without any problems whatsoever.....it took me about 10-15 min for the fuel filter change... now a buddy of mine has a 2008 dually and he can't change his fuel filter in account of having to take a bunch of **** out of the way to get to the housing so he has to get his done by some mech ...... hope this helps

I went from 04 to a 12. The oil change is no different. The fuel filter change process is the same, but the fuel filter cost more. Not sure what would be in the way for your buddy. The lid should look just a bit different. That's all I've seen. I can pop the hood and put a hand right on the lid. I would imagine the diff's are all the same maintenance costs. Same synthetic fluid, and just silicone the cover back on. The trans should be the same on fluid costs. Maybe a little more on the filter and it's done the same way. If you cam maintain your older one, you can maintain the new one.

And the ride in my 12 is like a soft cloud while getting a back rub compared to the 04. People ride in it and that's the first thing they say, is how well it rides.

There's also a 2nd filter in the form of a rear water separator.....so the fuel filter process is only the same for the underhood canister filter.

Why silicone???? The AAM's that's been used in the RAM 2500's and 3500's since 2003 have had a reusable gasket for sealing purposes.

The OP never specified 2500 or 3500. If 2500----and he goes auto, the 68RFE has TWO transmission filters. If 3500 and he opts for the optional AS69RC, the transmission has a totally different maintenance schedule than the 68RFE.

Nothing wrong with trying to help someone.....but when the "help" is as erroneous as above......it's not much "help". If one is unsure about a topic, they're best off to research it or not post anything at all.
