Ideal RPM for 6.7
I am trying to break in my new truck engine properly and discussed pulling with a heavy equipment friend of mine. He said that 2000 RPM is the best RPM when pulling a heavy load up a long grade, he said that you need to keep the RPM up to avoid heat build up in the engine. I recently pulled a stock trailer with horses, probably around 9000 lbs and the truck pulled effortlessly at two grand but I had to down shift to keep it there. I wondered what you guys thought.

Just a plain ole guy
I'm not sure if there is a break in period necessary. I think ideal rpm will first depend on rear gear ratio. With 4.10 the rpm will be a bit higher than a 3.something gear. When cruising on my 3.something its around 1500-1900. You'll break 2000 with the 410. Going up hill, you don't want it to get low, close to 1000-1200 a downshift won't hurt it. And a 9000 load, just go, you won't hurt anything. I just listen to the sound. If it needs another gear give it another gear.
You can get some programmer like devices that are just monitors. Plugs into the OBD port and you can choose from alot of gauges, Transmission temp is popular and useful and sometimes will be beneficial to the bank account to watch. An EGT is another very good one to have but you'll need to add a temp probe into the exhaust manifold for that. Look at the edge products. They seem to have a good one. Just adding a monitor and not a programmer won't bother your warranty.
