Need input on new truck

Currently have a 2004.5 with 180,000 miles. Truck has seen every New York State winter- but is probably the cleanest truck that has seen every winter- I have it sprayed with known twice a year since new- mechanically its solid- always taken care of. Pondering the idea of a 2016/17 truck. But here's the thing, I don't tow often, etc anymore. It's my daily driver. I just love Cummins diesels! The new truck I have decided will be stored for winters.- so only used 6-7 months out of the year. (A little worried on any issues letting these new fangled emissions trucks sit for so long) secondly the new truck would not be a fully loaded truck. Probably a tradesman, maybe a slt. I hate to ask this, but would I be better off with a hemi truck? Which obviously would be fully loaded?? It's been 20 years since I have had a gas truck. I don't know if I could do it. I guess what I am asking- anybody else store their new trucks during the winter months? Any issues doing so? Proper way to store a new emission diesel truck?

Oh the shame. You said the G word. It's been a long time since I had my mouth washed out with soap, and I didn't like it.

I would think the only thing about them sitting would be the coolant not circulating thru the egr cooler. Diesel fuel allays keeps better stored than gas so maybe in the stored times, add blue stabil to the tank. My opinion, if your not going to pull anything the added expense of the diesel is alot for never really using it. But that sound. I'll always have a diesel, even in the nursing home days. If there were a radio station that just played diesel sound, it would be in memory spot 1 on my radio. It's really just a judgement call you have to make. Just tell the wife either way you go will costs about the same.

A friend of mine has a 2013 that is stored all winter every year. He doesn't do anything to it other than quit driving it and has had no issues.

Thanks. I was definitely leaning towards staying with the diesel- my main concern was storage during the winter months. Is it best to let it sit all winter or to occasionally start the truck.?

I would occasionally start it. maybe even roll it back and forth a few times to circulate oil in everything and to park the tires on a different spot, plus keep the batteries up.
