Fuel filter warning

I have 18,000 Kms on my 2014 Ram 3500 and yesterday my Fuel Filter Warning came on with the display saying 18%. I tried a search on this site but cannot find an answer as to why this happened unless I did not explain myself properly. Is this a normal occurrence?

I can't answer that but I keep 2 spare filters in the truck, the first one gets you going again and if that one plugs right away you know you have to drain the tank but at least you will have a filter to install. The engine filter FS53000 are about $75 and the FS43255 are about $60 from Cummins. The one on the frame for the 2013 and up is harder to come by and I don't remember the price. Dirty fuel doesn't care what the mileage is.

Thanks for the reply. I may have caused my own stupid question by accidentally hitting my steering wheel control and showing this display. I now believe that the 18% is the beginning of the route to 100% full not how much I have left. Good to know the cost of these filters rather than dealing with my dealer.

Albertaguy,
I think the 18% is what the computer thinks is the remaining life of the filter. When I change mine and do the reset in the message center, I shows 100%. Having 18,000 km would be about right. Mine says 10% when I get to about 15,000 miles.
