DPF question
Love my new 2010 2500 6 speed manual Dodge. Have about 1000 miles on it now.
Does anyone know the details of when the DPF goes into regen mode? And any way to tell that its in regen mode? The manual only indicates that it will tell you after it gives the warning that it is 80% full.
I havn't had that problem yet but want to avoid it. I seem to recall that you needed to be on the highway above 45 mph at normal operating temperature for the 2007.5 and 08's. Does the same apply for the 9 and 10's?
I do drive about 20 mins everyday to and from work at 55-60 mph.
I do plan on doing the deletes after my warranty is up, going to be a while though.
Thanks for the help.

my 07 didnt show a regen burn till 30,000mi,the newer ones may do the same ,change your driving habits, keep the rpms higher for longer periods of time, that helps it burn hotter and keeps dpf from plugging to often.

Two clues that you are in regen or were in regen is after shutting it down you will hear the exhaust ticking because of the high heat temps and your evic will show lower than normal fuel mileage. My truck with a mix of highway and town driving goes into regen everyother day or more. I never had a message with almost 9K. They can also regen at idle (from what I've read) but better to run it. My mixture of driving seem to be fine since I drive 23 miles each way for work. I average between 14-16 mpg depending how I drive it.

I have never heard of a regen at idle, thats interesting. Hopefully they way I drive I will never run into a problem. Thanks for the info.

Anyone have some pyro and DPF electronic gauges that tell when it's in regen? I'm trying to figure out exactly what I need to do to keep it out of regen (by driving in a particular manner). I drive 160 miles every few days or so on the highway at 70mph and the rest in the city. What RPM do you need to see to get the temps up to an acceptable level? And for what amount of time?
