just found out that i have been running purple fuel now for 1 year because the pump changed at my fuel station will it hurt my 2011 ram motor???

 

What is purple fuel? I know what red fuel is, its off road tax free diesel that is no different than normal pump diesel except for the dye.

Ultra-low sulfur highway diesel fuel (15 ppm sulfur maximum) required fuel for 2011. If you have been running it for one year, then it must be ultra low sulfur diesel fuel. If it wasn't your check engine light would have turned on along time ago. The DPF would have been plugged up along with the EGR and the EGR cooler. If bio fuel in excess of 5% is not recomended and excessive oil dilution and severe internal engine wear will result. Have the fuel tested by a fuel lab if in doubt, or place a sample in freezer and check for rapid gelling compared to a good sample of Ultra-low diesel fuel.

You may want to read this before putting dyed diesel fuel in your truck again.

jodrt, it won't hurt your truck as even the dyed diesel is ULSD now days, but it can hurt your wallet if the DOT guys decide to dip your tank. It changed the same time that the road diesel (road tax included in price) did and I've been adding lube treatment to it for my tractors ever since.

 

oh ok wasnt sure if it will wreck my injectors or any thing else just have to change filter sooner
