Automatic high beams

We have a 2014 with the Uconnect 5 and the EVIC. The rear view mirror is auto dimming and there is a position on the head light control for automatic but when I turn on the high beams, they don't dim when there's on coming traffic. Is there a setting in the Uconnect 5 or the EVIC that has to be activated for auto dimming?

Thanks
Dave

These headlites do not auto dim. The uconnect and evic display does nothing for headlite controls. That 'auto' on the switch simply turns the headlites on automatically when it is getting dark outside and turns them off when it gets light outside...nothing else.

Mine does autodim the brights. It has to be in the auto headlight position which is all the way to the left. I believe you have to turn the option on in the EVIC. When you push the brights stem forward it tells me the auto brights is on. Whenever I come onto anyone else or I get close to someones taillights they do turn the brights off. It actually works very well! If you slow below 15mph it also dims the lights.

This feature must be on the newer '13 and up trucks. As far as I know, my '12 Laramie does not auto adjust the headlites from brite to dim and back as you describe...

My 2014 3500 Laramie does not have the auto-dim although on the settings it shows this feature with a green check mark as being on. My VIN was checked by Dodge customer line and they say my truck does not have it. Would this not be a turn on with a scanner to activate this feature? I find it strange that some vehicles would have this feature and others wouldn't especially as my truck is a Laramie with the top line radio system with NAV.

My question is why would you want it? I personally don't want the vehicle thinking it's smarter than I am and switching off the high beams without my say so.

Because it works very well on a dark windy mountain road. Of course you can always use it on manual because you have both options!

First off, I wouldn't of said that at all.
My truck has this option and works perfectly. You do have to read the owner manual.....It says you must be driving over 20mph to activate the system. If you drop below this it will deactivate the system.
To know whether you have this is to look at the back of your rear view mirror.... if there is a sensor there... then you have the system I believe it just may not be activated.
