2016 EGR delete but leave DPF, what programmer
Picked up a new 16 Cummins on Thursday and I really want that **** EGR off before the junk gets into the motor. The soot cooker/DPF doesn't bother me on the newer trucks for now and would like it intact until I get a few thousand miles on the truck.
I know I can I get the sinister egr delete kit but is there a cheaper route than the smarty or jr to program out the egr stuff? I don't want any CELs and I only plan on doing the deletes on the truck and maybe a small bump in a tune but that's it. Trying to figure out if I really need to spend $1000 on a tuner to disable egr.

If I recall, disabling the EGR is part of the dpf delete as well when it comes to programming with the delete capable tuners. You may be able to use something like EFI Live and find someone that will provide custom programming that turns off only the EGR related codes.
Before I deleted, I just disconnected the the plug at the EGR. Got a check engine light from doing it, but it ran just fine and the mpg went up some. The only downside was I couldn't use the remote start.
My truck is obviously older, so maybe it is possible with the newer trucks, but I doubt it without spending some big bucks.

I lost MPG's deleting my 14. Sure I gained power, but no matter how nice I drove it I could never get as good as stock.
I have 3500 miles or so on my 17 Cummins and have had a couple tanks in the 19 mpg range lowest around 16.5 Not bad for sub 0 weather. I'm leaving this one stock.
