If you don't mind putting the DPF back on every couple years, you should be okay. I plan to follow Blake's "California" delete procedure, if for nothing else than the satisfaction of knowing I'm not following the rules . Let your diesel be free!!!

Update: After ERG Disconnect
Previously, hand calculated I saw 15.4-15.8 mpg.
After ERG disconnect, I'm saw 16.8mpg for the first time. I must note that I now have 6k on it, so maybe that is part of it but the ERG seemed to net me 1mpg on the computer too.

I hate to be a fun hater and rain on everyones parade here, but as far as break in goes, you guys have a ways to go still.
Between the ones i've owned, my buddies, and the one guy owns 6 for his company, just plan on 15 mpg or less untill 10,000 miles on the odometer. After that it will creep up. Then another bump around 20-25,000. At around 50k you'll be there. The more you tow and harder it works it will shorten that period by alot.
I even noticed a gain when it hit the 100,000 mark, just about the time everyone thinks its time to trade, they are just getting started. Truck regulary hits 20 mile per gallon with 285 tires on a corrected speedo and hand calculated.
I know this is on an 05', but outside of the emisson stuff, fricton and physics doens't change.
If you want the most mileage, you will need to do the deletes. But even before that its all idle time and driving habbits. You can't drive 80 mph, rally stop light to stop light, WFO on the on ramps and expect great things. keep it 65 and under and less than 2,000 rpm, and you check book will thank you weather its towing or not. If you have to go 75 on the interstate, go 75. Not 79. you'll loose at least 1-2 mpg doing that. For what? Getting there 37 seconds quicker?
I know this seems like a bit of a rant, but i can't count the times i hear of people belly aching about fuel milage on any truck, and then see that they drive like Ricky Bobby.
Its no secret.... More right pedal means more dollars out the pipe into thin air.

I feel your pain. My 2011.5 DRW with auto tranny only gets about 16 MPG on the highway, maybe 17 if I take it real easy. My wifes 2007.5 07.5 SRW with auto tranny got perhaps 1.0 MPG better, but again it's got the 6.7. There is hope however. Her's just turned 40,000 miles and MPG has suddenly improved. I just made a 180 mile run over the Cascade mountains and averaged 21 MPG. I was stunned. I didn't think I'd ever see 20 MPG except for going downhill so don't despair.
I have ordered a delete package for my 2011 and expect about 1 MPG improvement but the break in thing isn't a myth. It just takes some engines longer than others to loosen up.

Mine got 18.25mph highway right off the lot. 25K miles later, still not deleted, it was getting almost exactly the same. Now, at 60K (deleted since 26K) I'm getting a bit better, but I didn't do the deletes for mileage, I was already happy with that. I deleted mine so it would stop putting a gallon of fuel in the oil between oil changes.
Of course I did break mine in right...360 miles or so on the odometer when I hooked to my first 20K+ lbs load.
They're not all bad....
