2011 Ram 3500 DRW HO 4x4 3.42, MPG???

On my 300 mile trip home from the dealer, 15.6mpg. I know it's literally brand new but that completely sucks for averaging 1600rpm. The next short highway trip 100 miles came in at 13.8. I went out of my way to get the 3.42 rear, as my 2004 cummins 3500 DRW w/4.10 only gets 15-16 @ same speed 75mph.

My past two cummins only improved +1 mpg when "broke in". I like to hear from others with the HO 800ftlbs cummins, state your rear gear ratio please.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much but with the 3.42 rear, 18+ mpg is not a high bar for 1600rpm. I wonder if an HHO would help or would the computer override the benefits.

In '04 I was convinced the 4.10 gears would be better for us as our '99 had 3.73 rear and died on hills. What a lie! The '04 with Edge/juice is actually just as or more powerful than out new truck. Now we're having to spend $2k to have the 4.10 swapped for a 3.42 ratio. While we tow 50% of the miles, our rig is only 5-7k lbs and sometimes another 2-4k in payload. Not much at all for these trucks.

Ditch the DPF and EGR system and your mileage will improve and the truck will run better. I couldn't believe how my buddie's 6.7 woke up after he did the deletes.

It's an emmisson engine. What did you expect. Your mileage is about right in line with everyone else that I have seen unless they deleted everything.

2011 Ram 3500 HO 4X4 3.73

I own a 2011 Dodge Ram 3500 MegaCab LongHorn DRW H.O. 4X4 with a 3.73 rear end. The truck has only 600 miles on it. I took a trip of 130 miles and gave me 15.8 mpg as per the computer. I kept the truck between 60 and 65 miles per hour.

I have a 2010 SRW 3500, mileage before delete's was 17.5-18.2mpg hwy, and after deletes is running around 18.5-19.5mpg hwy.

68RFE, 3.42's....mileage on the computer is .5-.75mpg high.

2011 Ram 3500 MegaCab H.O. 4X4 LongHorn Edition

I have spoken to three local Dodge dealers concerning using tuners or deleting and they stated that the computer is able to detect any change in the ECM. This will void the entire warranty of the engine and transmission. I would like to improve the mileage a little but I do not want to void the warranty.

I did put a K&N filter, plan to put a Leer 700 Cap on it and put a dual exhaust system from the muffler back just for show.

It seems my hands are tied in trying to improve the mileage without voiding the warranty.

I have also spoken to several companies concerning their tuners and the state the same thing traces of the tuner can be detected.

I have a 2011 3500 Cab/Chassis 4x4 crew with a 3.73 axle and manual 6 speed. No bed on yet and around 500 miles on the odometer.. my first top off on the tank registered 18.5

I expect when I and 3k in box and tools that will drop a bit. Most of that mileage is all freeway.

On my truck it is, I gain 3-3.5 mpg on hot setting rather than mild on the mini maxx, but that is also taking it easy on the throttle. But I do drive kinda fast, that why I like the 3.42's 1750'rpms at 70 mph. On a open highway if I'd go 60-65 I bet I could get 25 mpg

California will be doing regular smog checks on this vehicle so I dont dare do a delete. The engine might love it but the fines are hefty.
