Question questions on getting a 4500

Well I love my current truck but I need more room for friends and possible kids in the nier future. I love the new 10's but I could get a 4500. Quad cab a lot cheaper from local dealer. My questions that most concern me r.

1. Can u put a truck bed from a 3500 on a 4500 if not what some good truck bed company's for a custom set up

2. I've been reading that the CC have less or different emissions on them than the 25 3500's I know about the urea for 2011 but what's different on the 08 09s without urea

3.we have a 11k pullbehind toyhauler and I drive 95% highway on a daily basis to work what transs and gear set up would b best for mpg and pulling our trailor

Thanks for any feedback
Chris

The Dodge dealer in Orlando told me a pickup truck bed could be ordered for the C&C truck. I've seen pictures of Sterling 4500 with a pickup bed on it.

The 08 09 use the DPF system on the 6.7. It adds exhaust gas (EGR System) to the intake there by reducing something that meets emmisions. It also reduces fuel mileage as your not getting 100% air to the engine. There's lots to read here on that subject.

I assume the 11,000 lb trailer you have is the unloaded weight? Whats its GVW. If its over 17,000lbs you may be on the edge of the 26,000lb Gross Combined Weight Rating. Below is the tow rating for an 09 C&C with differant rear gears.

2009 DODGE RAM_4500 CAB CHASIS ST, QUAD CAB, 4WD, LWB Bed, 6-Spd Auto AISIN AS68RC Transmission, 6.7L I6 Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine:

With 4.88 Axle Ratio Axle Ratio [i] You Can Tow 1650 lbs
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) [i] = 16500 lbs
Payload [i] = 13252 lbs
Curb Weight [i] = 3248 lbs
Curb Weight Front/Rear = 3248 lbs/3248 lbs
GAWR Front/Rear [i] = 7000 lbs/12000 lbs
Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) [i] = 5072 lbs

I'll see if I can find the truck with the pickup bed and post it

I tried to post the pictures as an edit and it would not let me. So here there are. If I remember right this truck or one like it was at a Colorado Dodge Dealer. As you can see this is a Dodge and not a Sterling.

Ya i know about the DPF junk on these trucks but i heard the C&C system is alittle different on the 07-09 than the 07-09 non C&C

Na the trailer we have now GVWR is 11500 but the fithwheel we might get soon will probably tip the scales at 14500 fully loaded

The only thing I know that's different between the 07-09 C&C and the none C&C is the HP and Torque Rating. Non C&C being a 3500. A 3500 C&C is available. The C&C can get the good heavy duty 6 speed auto.

Urea does not start in C&C till this model year I believe. So no DPF.
