engine light & ETC light on

Hello everyone,

New to the forum..well not that new..long time lurker first time poster.

I'm having some trouble with my 2008 5500 that i'm hoping someody can help me out with.

Today while driving the engine light came on and seconds after that the Electronic Throttle Control light came on.

Brough it back home and hooked her up to my SCT to see if there were any codes and sure enough P0106 came up. I've been doing some reading and it seems that the 106 is a fairly common code. After some searching i finally found the MAP sensor (MAP sensor location on the C&C is located near the fuel filter by the fire wall), removed it, and cleaned it as some others have suggested. Put everything back together and the engine light was still on. After taking it for a 5 minute spin the ETC light also came back on. What gives? It also sounds like the exhaust brake is on when the truck is idleing at a complete stop without the actual button being turned on. Has this happend to anyone else here before? The diesel tech at the only Dodge dealership in town willing to look at the 5500 is on holidays for 2 weeks

Side note, i also tried replacing the air filter with no luck.

Well,

We had to bring it to a dealer about 160kms away to get it fixed. Nobody locally wanted to touch it :s.

Apparently they did a flash update and it fixed everything...i guess only time will tell.

Today my '09 5500 did the same thing, ETC light on & flashing, check engine light on loss of power, 3480 miles...absolutely flabbergasted. I was able to pull over stopped engine 7 restarted 1/2 dozen times or so, ETC went off. I drove it 1/2 mile & it did it again, this time there was no power loss. Ran service calls all day and after the third call no lights on everything seemed ok. At the end of the day 8 hrs after initial problem it started over again. I came home and since it is Saturday, I hope I don't have to do anything until I take this into the shop on Monday am.

Just had my truck in for the third time same issue. This time the tech says the accelerator pedal sensor was faulty; basically a bad potentiometer. They replaced it and I'm on the road again, hopefully fixed
