Wiring up new seat heaters...

So, I'm installing the new leather package from leatherseats.com and overall it looks great. I decided to add seat heaters while I was at it because my fragile and delicate backside appreciates the heat after leaving a cold duck blind in the middle of winter. The question is where to wire in to get a switched 12v circuit capable of 20A. I have a 25A open spare in the driver side panel under the hood, but what pin in which plug and where do we get the pins....and is that a switched circuit or always on?

I can re-invent a wheel as well as the next guy...but I assume this has been done before so thought I would ask the masses for some guidance on how you did it.

From: Thanks Don M!
I will be watching this thread as this project is on my list for my truck. I will be doing front and rear heated leather in the Mega Cab.

How is the quality of the leather? I have corresponded with Leatherseats.com a few times and they seem very good.

Do you have power seats now? If so, check those wires. They will be hot always, not switched.

I used the cig lighter wire in the dash to power mine. I chose that over the one in the console because it only has power while the key is on while the one in the console has power all the time.
One big problem I had initially was that the ground I chose to use was not good enough and somehow I burned up one of my control boxes. Just make sure you ground them separately AND make sure they are good grounds..

^^ same here, I used the cig lighter because it is switched power. Had them in for a few years now with no problems.
