Question wipers don't work in cold!

I know theres been alot of threads on 05 wipers doing wierd stuff, did a search and found alot of topics for the delay not working or only working on the two high settings. But mine won't work when its cold out, it's been below freezing for about two weeks where I live and they haven't worked at all unless I bring it into a warm shop for about 20 mins then they work just fine on all settings. I now, I now I've got water in them some where, well how and where? I've checked the wiring into the motor and there is power thier with the switch on, but until they get warmed up a bit not a chance in hell of them workin. Any ideas guys thanks.

They are not working at all until the trucks warmed up? Are they freezing to the window?

I have this issue on my 06 Mega cab.. Hmmm.. must just be the two of us..LOL

Oh and they aren't freezing to the wind shield.. they will work at about 10 below Celsius but any colder and they quit all together.

Check the lube points on the wiper shaft. Use a good Lithium base lube and you should not have any problems.

So there is power at the motor?

I would guess the next step to diagnose would be to disconnect the motor from the linkage and see if it runs then, and if the linkages and pivots move.

Yes there is power at the motor(or at least there is when it is warm as they work then).

I have ordered a new Wiper Module for 130 bucks..

I hope it works.. and if nothing else I will find out how to tear it apart.

Well it is a known issue.. at least the dealership knew about it.. I believe there is an updated wiper motor and mechanism that cost $180 CAD (I missed warranty by 1,000km).

I never did get my new one installed and the old ones are working so far this year with one blast to near 40 below.

I am not sure if it was ice and water build up or just what the issue is but I have a brand new mechanism sitting here waiting if I develop another problem..

I know this isn't much help but it is what I did.

I have some issues like that myself but I am finding out it's my steering lever that causes it.
Try to "wiggle" it a little, mine does funny things sometimes, like not blinking, or blinking the opposite that I want, or no delay at all on wipers.
I opened the steering cover behind the wheel and everything start working fine, if I tighten the screws, my wipers quit working.

Yes I do, but I don't use it much. Do you know anything about this ? The combo switch is only $ 45, if it's bad I rather buy new

Check the wiring where it bends as the wheel is tilted.. These wires can get brittle over time as the wheel is worked back and forth.. I caused many trucks to burn down before they moved the relay for the heater out of the column in 2004. It would be the first place I would look before going to the trouble of replacing the switch...
