Wind Noise In Passenger Door

running at highway speed i get some wind noise in the passenger door.

and rather than go to the trouble of taking it in to the dealer, i would rather just fix it myself.

do i just need to loosen the top hinge and pull the door in some at the top? or is there more to it than that?

thanks, chris

When I was in the dealer there was a gasser 03 ram with wind noise, they are replacing all the door rubber to hopefully fix the wind noise.

hope this helps...

Just adjust your door anchor on the body, loosen it with the Torx screws and slide it inward a fraction. Mark the original place of the anchor with a pencil so you
don't go to far, and don't looen the screws up to much. Just enough to get it to slide.

Sawboy, I guess I should have mentioned the first thing the dealer did to the gasser was to adjust the door, didn't work, but just maybe it would for a Cummins.

I also have a "wind noise" but from my driver's door. Not all the time either. Just every once in a while. Maybe 2% - 5% of the time and only when the wind blows just the right way. Should I mess with it or is this really just normal?

I believe the slight noise I hear in my 04 2500 Crew cab is from the towing mirrors. They look like they'll whip-up some wind.

Dealer blamed my intermittent drivers side wind noise on the mirrors also.

Wish I had the Trailer/Two Mirrors but I don't. Why a 3500 came without them I have no idea. I suppose it's because of the SWB and the lack of the Dually's. I guess I'll deal with it till I see a TSB or Recall Notice.

If you follow the door lines up over the roof you'll see they stick up over the roof ever so slightlty. In a cross wind you will hear noise as the wind will try to pry open the upper window frame from the weatherstriping. My wifes' Trailblazer does exactly the same thing. Moving the door anchor to get a tighter seal is all I have been able to do to help.

I had same problem on last truck [2003 2500] I tried the door anchor thing and it did not work so then I tried loosening the front fender bolts and pulling out the fender about 1/16 of inch or so. The noise was gone. My noise came from front of door not the top though. Hope this helps . Don't know if you wanna try this or just bring it do dealer and let thme figure it out.

I have the same noise alltork, and took it to the dealer, but they really didn't change much. (The mechanic working on it said his was worse.) I'd like to try that fender adjustment- where are those bolts you mentioned?

I have this exact same problem. Personally, I'd rather get beat up than go to the dealer for service. So, since it only does it occassionally and it is fairly minor, I'll live with it.

Sorry TurboTed I haven't had time to get back. The bolts are 2 on top 1 is under black cowling under wipers other one is on top of fender lip (under hood) bottom bolt is on bottom of fender. Just loosen those three only then pull out fender as needed so fender is in line with front of door that way wind won't catch on front lip of front door. Hope this helps you.
