Who has Mega Cab AC Issues???
Ok, this is about mega cabs only.
Dodge has admitted that they screwed up with the mega cab AC. It turns out that when they stretched the cab bigger they used the same AC as the smaller cab trucks.
Their exact phrase was "this has not been an infrequent complaint, especially in warmer climates with humidity like FL and TX." They are "supposed" to be working on a fix, but they've been telling me this for a year and I now know they're just dragging this out trying to wait me out.
Bigger cab, a lot more glass, same AC designed for a smaller truck = one hot cab.
Who here is also not happy with their AC?
Yes, I've had it checked out 4 times. They say it is "functioning as designed". This is true, but it was *designed* for a smaller truck. They have been very clear that there is nothing else they can do unless Dodge comes up with a fix of some sort.
Here in south Florida where it's 95 + for 3 months a year it's just unbearable. Below 90 it's tolerable, but not good. Above 90 on a sunny day and it simply will not cool.

I have a 2006 mega cab.. And I agree the A/C is sub-par... and this is in Alaska. I can't imagine this A/C in a warmer climate, but here in the next month I move to St. Louis. Gonna be hating life.

I just got my M-Cab Wednesday and in this 109* weather, it is not as good as my 89 trooper. Everything else about the truck is fantastic 'cept the freakin' A/C.
It takes 10+ minutes to get cool-ish. 20 minutes get you cool if all the vents are on you and the rest of the passengers are a tad uncomfortable.
--I hope they come up with a fix!!!

my 06 mega 8k on it the ac will not cool you off at all my wife sweats in the truck here in st george where summer is around 110 and up she stoped driving the truck period and is now driving the pontiac to work and back i guess its good that it keeps the miles off but why pay 40+ grand for a truck you cant drive? should have bought a chevy i hate to say since i love dodge but i will trade down to a slightly lesser motor for a far better tranny and ac unit i guess im just a hooker like that now days....

I'm not overly impressed with the AC, but it hasn't be a significant problem for me. One difference for me is that I have remote start. I set the AC on high when I get out, and I start my truck a few minutes before I get to it. . . . . that helps. They should have put a bigger unit on the Mega's. Oh well . . . .I'd still rather have this Mega that takes a few extra minutes to cool than my 6.0L Powerstroke that wouldn't stay running . . . even though the air was ice cold.

Have an 07 with 2k on it and the ac is not as cold as my Yukon was with the rear air. I wish the dodge had a rear blower the back could use. I still love the truck glad its white I think it helps. Its been a hot one this year we hit a 118 in the shade
