Compressor, accumulator, Schrader valve and recirc door replaced at 77k, which was two weeks ago. Blows like new again, but at only 77k, we should not be having to replace these parts.

The dealer first told me that normally they'd replace the entire hose assembly, but since it was on national back order, they'd just buy a Schrader valve from the local NAPA (it's what was leaking, not the hose) and save me a $100. Could not believe what I was hearing.

Many Many threads on issues, just do a search. The system is fixable, we shouldn't have to but that is the way the cookie crumbles.

It sounds like you got a recirc door sitting on top of your blower fan. Take the blower motor off an take the broken door out. At least then you will get some air.

Exclamation 2006 Dodge 2500 Mega Cab - 62,300 miles - 3rd compressor

What's the deal? The local dodge dealer just took another $2800 to replace the compressor n condenser. So now I'm on my 3rd compressor n 2nd condenser. This truck get's highway miles because we live in the Big Empty of Texas. We are rural to rural folks. This A/C stuff is a freaking joke. While in Warranty in 2010, you could hear the A/C blowing but it wasn't coming out of the vents. Took them three days to fix that. Then Compressor quit in 2011...took to "automotive A/C" specialists even dealers used n it worked great for almost a year. It stopped cooling everything but the driver seat. Then end of last summer it stopped all together. Compressor would not come on at all. THOUGHT I could live without A/C but I haul dogs, sick animals n they need A/C so the LAST THREE WEEKS the big city Dodge dealer has tried to find "the leak". They replaced the condenser AFTER removing dash n not finding anything in there - $2500. Drove 60 miles home n A/C quit. Took it back to dealership n they worked on it another 7 business days n decided the compressor was bad. After discussing the bad service with the GM, I paid an additional $317 OR $2817. THIS is ridiculous. Why isn't there a class action suit on this???

Just replaced the coil and clutch at 71,000. $85 fix for the parts kit on ebay and a few hours of my labor.

Well, my AC crapped out a couple days ago, at 74K miles. It quit making cold air, and I used to hear a bump sound when turning it on and see a quick little rpm change, that is gone too. I think I need a compressor clutch, and I'd bet the coil also, have to get out the trusty ohm meter to check the coil.

@jeephauler, can you steer me to where you got those parts on ebay please?

99,000 miles and leaking at compressor seal and housing. Looks like a new or re-built compressor . accumulator and orifice tube.

On our '06 we lost the blend door before 27k miles, had it repaired under the 3/36 after taking it into the dealer 4 times for it because they "couldn't find the problem". Once the truck was outside the 3/36 they found it, and then tried to charge us for it until I had them look it up in their system. This is when I heard the service guy say, "Oops.". I'm still not happy with them about this.

We also had the A/C fail and had to get a new ECM because of it, and had a steering box fail. Had the dealer cover most of the issues under the 5/50, except a bad case of glazed brakes.

I still love my '06, but its a work in progress and I wouldn't sell it even though the dealer wants to give me more than I paid for it.
