wheel spacers on a dually

Hello All,
I have talked to a lot of local tire dealers about this. They all say that it is a bad idea. I thought that I would ask you guys and see what you had to say. I have an 05 dually 4wd and was wanting to put a bigger tire than stock, but with bigger tires I was afraid they would rub for I pull heavy and haul heavy 90% of the time for my truck works first. So my question is are wheel spacers safe and what it a bigger tire size that I could go for?
Also I have been having a tire wear problem with the front, the tires last for around 6 to 7 thousand miles. I have had it lined up 3 times and back to the dealer until I got tired of fooling with them. Any ideas would be a big help. Any pictures with bigger tires would be nice.

http://www.wheeladapter.com/

Try this website and give them a call. Ask for Fred, he is a great guy to work with on the spacer matter. I put a set of 1 1/2" spacers on my 02 Chevy 3500 so I could run 235/75 on it without rubbing. Some people buy his 2" spacers and run some very big tires. Do a search on http://www.dieselplace.com/ for wheel spacers and you will see alot of pictures of larger tires and spacers.

Get those ? rickson 22 or 22.5? inch, then you can put big truck tires on and get 80K or 100K miles out of them. I would like them but am too cheap to spend the money, I got285/70's my dually, but don't have much clearance, but don't haul real heavy. For what those Ricksons cost I could buy a gearvendor unit and drop the rpm's by 500 when empty on interstate.

No problems with the adapters I had. They were on for the life of the 285's and 315's, a little over 100k miles and they seemed to do their job. Off road for work, hunting, and playing every now and then, plus towing around 8k semi often and always held up.

Now I have the 22.5's and the adapters for those I'm sure are next to indestructable. Those things are thick and heavy and a lot bigger than I imagined they would be.

I put 285's on mine and used 1/2 inch spacers and they seem to work well.

I had 2" spacers with no trouble. I did run a few less pounds in the outside tires just to take a little stress off them for peace of mind.
