What's a good tailgate cap?

Something probably diamond plate. The top of my tailgate is bent up from loading up my ATV on the weekends so I'd like some further protection. PDR can't get it out either since it's double platted there.

Thanks in advance!

I dont know what / who PDR is, but I'd take it to someone else. My tailgate looked like i backed into a light pole several times from years of loading/unloading quads. I took it over to my neighbors house and with in a few hours he had it smooth as silk.... Here's a few before and after pics... I didnt have it painted cause i plan on putting the OE tailgate guard that come on the 1500 Rams.

I want to put the OEM one o my truck but I don't know if it will fit with the liner. I am going to try and find a junk yard in Houston to maybe pull one off of and see.

I don't like the stock 1500 one because then it looks like a 1500 since the side emblems are shaved. Otherwise I'd give it a shot.

New they are like $95 and I've read you can just put 3M double sided tape on them.

I have the OEm 1500 one on mine and love it. I also have a Rhino liner sprayed in.

I think what he basically meant was that he couldn't get them out from the inside and that it would be too much too get them out from the outside. Yours looks good but I load my ATV every couple weeks or so and I'd be back in the same spot anyway... I'd hate to be worried every time I had to load it up.

I put a stainless steel cap on mine. It looks like chrome and it's really stout. Goes on with a couple of screws.

Same here. I got the black ones, and after a couple years they still look good.

Half ton spoiler on mine and I like it. It went over my OTR Line-X without issue. I installed it myself, 4 screws and 3m tape on the top. It's taken quite a beating, got a few gouges in it, but still works good. I also like the little spoiler lip for grabbing hold of to raise and lower the tailgate. makes it MUCH easier to do 1-handed.

As for making it look like a half ton, unless you have a mega cab the 8-lug wheels are a dead giveaway of a 3/4 ton or 1 ton pickup. That, the Cummins shaking the truck from under the hood, and the at minimum 4" tailpipe sticking out the back...

Thanks, gonna order that Dee Zee aluminum diamond plate for about $30 shipped.

And yeah ideally I'd like to just pop them out and buff out the scratches but I'd be back in the same spot. I wrapped the heck outta my ramps in duct tape too but it all wore off from dragging them, guess I quit caring.

It works on your truck but mine is silver/chrome and I think the diamond plate would look better.

That plastic works fine like you said but we've broke it off of our chevy work truck, I might get a diamond plate one for it too, it sometimes gets lightly rubbed with the forklift. If it was flat it wouldn't get snagged as easy.

I want to find a junk yard and pull a 1500 off and try it out. I like the way they look.

I also want to find an all black grill. I got the chrome one on there now and want to get rid of it.

Another option if you are not into adding stuff onto your truck, I had a couple of small dents in mine from forklift contact, and I beat the dents out as best as I could and had the lip sprayed with line X. Hides a lot of sin, and you can look all day and never see the prior damage. Line X hold up great
