what to look for at delivery

Hey guys. After more than a year of researching, set backs, and waiting I have ordered a new (2007) 2500! I just got the call that it came in last night, so after the dealer 'prep' I can go pick it up. I have been watching this site for the last year or so, so I have some ideas of issues to look for. But, what do I need to specifically pay attention to when I take it for a drive before I sign the papers? I plan on taking a long drive around town and on the freeway.
Oh, one "little" thing: I decided to get the Hemi rather than the Cummins (for various reasons that I would be happy to share in another post). Now, I know this is a Cummins site, but it is also the best Dodge heavy-duty site that I know of, and much of the discussion here is applicable to a truck with either of the engines. To make up for it, I did get the G56 (thus the special order).
So, here are the specs: 2007 SLT QC 6.25ft, Hemi, manual 4x4, G56, 3.73 gears, LSD. About the only options I got were the clearance lights, adjustable pedals (for the wifey), side airbags, and premium seats.

Any help you guys can give will be much appreciated!

Check for any damage. Once its off the lot, it will be very hard to prove you didn't cause it. I would pick it up in the day light if at all possible, somethings are hard to see at night. Its a brand new truck, it should look like one. Also, just check it out and make sure you have everything you wanted, certain wheels, options, etc.
Good luck and enjoy,
Nick

Like Nirion said, make sure every option you have ordered is there before you take the vehicle home.

For what its worth check every little detail such as the bottle jack and such. I didnt check my jack and when I went to use it I was missing a part of the jack handle. Point of story I couldnt lower my spare tire and had to call AAA. Nothings more embarassing then a full grown man in a pickup truck having to call someone to change a tire

Look it over real good. Mine had a dent in the passenger side door that I didn't even see. If it hadn't have been for my buddy that was with me I would have drove away not knowing. At least I think thats what the dealer was hoping for.

Well I am new to the site and thought that I would chime in as I have also ordered a new truck that should be here in May or June
One other thing to ask for is the delevery slip from the truck stating that they signed for it no damage and they did not have anything fixed. I work for a Nissan dealer and we have damage to about 1 out of 15 cars. We allways hawever disclose it to the new owner to aviod truble in the past.

I printed it out & took it with me. Didn't use all the info, but was a big help just the same!

Don't pick it up at night.. Make sure and look at all the body panels carefully.. I bought mine at night and the next day noticed that the area around the drivers door handle was depressed and dented (all the way around).. Nothing I could do except pay Dent wizards to take out about 90% of it.. (to close to where the outer panel meets the inner). If I would have saw it at the dealer I would have taken the other truck (2 identical trucks on the lot except mine had the tow hooks and skid plates).

make sure they fill the tank all the way up (I made it part of the deal hey $100.00 is $100.00). and check all the fluids before you leave or drive it!!

make sure you have the Brake controller harness in the glove compartment (if you have the tow package) Mine was missing and had them make a note of it before I signed.. still had to fight to get one from them.. they finally took one out of another truck on the lot.. Hope the next guy knows..

make sure all the power windows roll all the way up and down, blowers work, doors close and lock and unlock, floor mats are there if ordered, and check the bed for scratches (they will put stuff back there during shipping). I could go on and on but it took me almost an hour to check mine out.. it only had 7 miles on it. I even crawled under it with a flashlight.

The lot idiot scratched my wheels (all 4 of them on one spoke) getting the manufacturer ink writing off of them. I didn't notice until way later .
