What caliber revolver should I take to the dealer to get them to grease the dreaded front drive shaft? At 3750 miles, I took it in and was told I had an old manual and the unit on my truck was sealed. After reading some of the posts here (thanks guys) and seeing the posted photos, I crawled under the truck and found the fitting in 5 minutes. At 7500 miles, went to another dealer for oil/filter change, and specifically mentioned greasing front joint and showed them the manual and the under hood sticker. Got home and a few minutes later the mechanic is on the phone telling me that really isn't a grease fitting there. I said that it was a grease point that required a needle type fitting for the grease gun and even gave him the part numbers (thanks again guys). When I picked up the truck, the service manager reiterated the mechanics statement that that was not a grease fitting. So, do I get the regional manager involved or what. I don't want the dealer P.O.' ed at me for causing a problem with his boss, but at the same time I would like the prescribed maintenance for my truck. I don't really have the time or tools to do this myself, and after all it is their job. Suggestions??

Buy a small grease gun and do it yourself

On Edit I figured I better elaborate a little more. Simply, you can't fix "stupid" those guys have a mind set that will not allow them to think for a single moment that you may know something they don't.

No matter what you say to anyone you are essentially wasting your breath. This is why you need to do as much of your own maintenance as possible. There are some good techs out there, I know because their are some on here.

But I haven't come across one myself yet at a dealership. Good luck and buy a creeper

I too would do it yourself. No one cares for your truck as you would....

 

I am assuming you have a license to carry a hand gun. Personally I perfer my Walther PPK 32 for daily carry, but for shock factor the Colt Defender 40cal seems to look more intimidating. Anything over 40cal should do.

 

Man yall carry them small guns. For the O crap factor pull out a Kimber Ultra Carry II 1911 frame .45auto or for the i think i should change my pants factor pull out a super black hawk .44mag. Should do the job.

 

You asked which caliber "revolver", for the caliber that is SURE to create a Charmin Moment, I would go with the Smith & Wesson 500.

But to the topic at hand... I'd call the regional manager and explain your difficulty and how you "couldn't fix stupid". I'd wait a month or so. But it's not just YOU that you're protecting it's the other customers.

When I took mine in I specifically told them to lube it and he wrote it down as if it was a specail request. Do I think they lubed it? Probably not, but I never checked.

 

There is no point in forcing them to understand, although I can not and will not discourage ANYONE from spookin the ever luvin stool out of a dealer with a hand cannon. I don't care who you are....that's just plain hilarious.

However, if somehow you did get your point across, the tech would say he greased it and there is no way for you to actually know if he did or not. So like the other chuckle heads have been saying, just grease it yourself and to hell with the dealer if they are going to treat you like that.

BTW have you been telling them it's the grease point for the u-joints? If so that it why they are being a royal pain. Make sure you tell them it's the ball and socket grease point in the Double Cardan on the front shaft, that may help. Doubt it....but ya never know.

 

At that point, id rather do it myself than either have the idiots mess something up, or screw it up on purpose out of spite.

 

I went through this same process with my dealership. They also could not find/lube it. They wrote it down on my service request AND also noted that they did not lube it. I at least figured that would be future evidence relative to their incompetence. It is true - you can't fix stupid. So, I now lube it. I got one of those small little grease guns, keep it in my truck toolbox, do the fitting when I change the oil and somewhere half way between oil changes.

Caliber - I don't think they make one big enough to treat the whopping case of stupidity that has lead deficiency at my dealership. In fact, I have just quit dealing with them and going there. I'm too afraid of osmosis.

you could always strap a bomb to your chest. that should get their attention. the real icing on the cake would be if you run in there hollering about allah or mohommad while screaming an incomprehesible babble...

God Save me if I have to take our truck into the local Dodge shop..... I've got the Chevy shop guys pretty well trained - older ladies with a steely glare and a fair knowledge of what they are talking about are SPOOKY - 'specially the ones with that CPP card right in next to their other ID for checks....

I dunno 'bout the Dodge dealer, though. Our horseshoer just had a BRAND NEW 2007 CTD croak on him - he hadn't even made the first payment, when it dropped dead in the road with a four horse gooseneck behind it in rush hour traffic - WITH his rope horses in it. Dealer told him it was not a warranty thing and would cost him $16000 to fix (WHOLE fuel system went away) and he told them they could just keep the &%^$$@!! truck. He then went out and paid cash for a '99 CTD 3500 dually, and is preparing to counter-sue them for breach of contract on the warranty.

Oh, usual carry is S&W model 60, 3" bbl, match sights, trigger worked, combat grips, .357 Mag. UNconcealed carry is a Sig Sauer SAA clone, .44 Mag., blue w/walnut.

 

Well, water in fuel or dirty fuel isn't the dealer's problem. Keep your receipts for fuel and limit your places you fill up. I go to 2 stations depending on the area I'm in.

 

I would recommend one of the illegal MLB corked bats, then knock one out of the PARK-ing lot.
