What caliber revolver?
To me it's more of a soft point or HP issue. Then the velocity choice. Last is the actual caliber choice. LOL you don't want over expansion OR over penetration!
No feeding problems ever with the revolver so my S&W 44 spl with 200 gr XTP loaded to 1050 FPS from my 3" N frame round butt is trick. Good snap, but a nice manageable recoil and are extremely accurate. Excellent expansion but not really any thing more than needed. Out a M29 the same load with a 6" barrel they clock closer to 1100 FPS but follow up shots are faster. Size becomes a factor. It's just to big for a carry gun. IMHO
My Dan Wesson 1911 Patroit feeds HP's well, but "ball" is just so, well, "traditional." I like it as much as a Kimber and its less $.
But for Hollywood and some shock factor a Sig 226 with an EFK extended and threaded barrel (or Jarvis if you prefer) AAC Evo-9 or SWR Shadow 9 with 147 gr sub sonic HP's with raised tactical sights is hard to beat. Would be something like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkZpBlun8MM
That is until AAC releases the new .45 "Blackbox", which will be a hearing safe boosted suppressor, that will cycle your auto .... A little big, but on a 1911 or a HK The service folks will know you mean business and are not just a net commando when they see a $2000-$3000 rig in your hand.
Here is a link to the AAC "Blackbox" in action on U-Tube ... Note: the "Paa-Ting" noise is the bullet smacking the steel plate target....

The 45 ACP is loud and is hard to get real quiet. Last I heard the date is out past 2007 now.
But with any of these highly regulated tools, responsibility is paramount. If you think having a bad lube job at the dealer is bad, just think about how the BATF would be as they tore apart you home.
and more so .. where you would be living for the next 10-15 years in the world without a CTD to drive.
I do have a grease gun (NO not a M3) and lube mine myself. The lock out hubs sorta eliminate the frequency of lube interval. Maybe 2x a year. Before winter and again in the spring??
Trucks n guns, it's an American thing.

How are we supposed to go cross-country and stick to 2 stations? How are we supposed to know the places where we're going to get excess water?
If anyone has some real-world advice on this, I am all ears. Thanks
Just a suggestion. My real world advice was keep receipts and try to go to the same station(s).
You say this is BS? Good luck if you get water in your fuel then.

!!! I think you can tell and pick a decent place to fill up. Stick to the newer places and truck stops. The truckers know where to go, so I usually follow their lead.
I've bought bad gas before and my old truck ran funky for a few days. Buy bad diesel and you've screwed up your engine.
Think about it, keep your receipts and put a good amount of fuel in each time. The OP I was commenting too said 16K in damage he had to pay for, well if it was bad fuel then it is the station's responsibility to pay.
Revolver? .44mag But if you can reach for your pistol then definitely grab the 45 Auto. Leave those other sissy calibers at home with yer little lady. Remember, always know your target and what's beyond. It'd sure be a dam shame to put a hole in that nice truck of yers.
Thanks all
Thanks to all for your advice. I guess I'll end up doing it myself, but it just goes against my grain to "reward" bad work/ethics by letting them off. I tried to be friendly while suggesting where the fitting was, but as someone mentioned, how could I, a lowly customer, know anything.
PS. I hunt dangerous game with a Ruger Bisley in 44Mag, no scope, just up close and personal. My concealed is old faithful Browning Hi-Power 9mm.

I think any of the previous caliber suggestions would do the job. When you're done, please come and visit my dealer too. I'll buy the rounds.
I had a similar problem with my atv dealer. I told him about a problem my atv had that was being reported ALL over the internet forums. It was a major problem that could lead to engine failure. Asked if there was any fix or recall yet. Dealer told me to quit believing everything you hear about on those forums. There is no way you have a problem like that. My buddy and me went ahead and fixed it. About 8 months later a recall was posted.
I'll take the advice from these forums WAY before any dealer.
