Question Water in fuel?

Just turned 10,000 miles on my truck and did the second oil change and changed out the fuel filter. While I had it out I climbed up and took a flashlight to see where the Water in Fuel sensor was. When I looked into it I could see something that didn't look right, looked like oil would look with a little water in the bottom of it. I have drained the filter a couple of times and it didn't show any water in the samples I took. I drained the filter housing and the stuff was still in the housing so I got a rag and soaked it all out. I then installed the new filter and primed the filter and fired it up.

Just something to watch for I think as I buy all my fuel from high turnover stations. As this is my first diesel I really don't know what to expect but have read about the Water in Fuel sensor not reporting in a timely manner. I figured the small amount of fuel I lost in draining the filter housing is well worth the peace of mind to remove even a small amount of water.

It certainly can't hurt to purge it once in a while to give you that ole' warm and fuzzy feeling. When it was new and I was a little paranoid about WIF, I used to purge mine every few tanks or so, now its only once in a while - when I remember.
