Paul
They have it for $335 and have drilled the zerk fittings.
Its also what you see is what you get as I was told...
No nuts, no bolts, no Steering stabilizer, no pitman arm.
Just the rods and the ends.
I think that is more then dodge was charging but they do the fittings.
Its also the AE kit.

I was told thats all they put on, and don't do the Pitman arm.

This is the part the bugs me about Dodge build it proper and if you can't fix it your screw ups. You gotta wonder why they are always on the edge of going broke? I bought one but doubt I will ever buy another.
I was told it is not a recall, its a TSB.

As for the recall that is on some it is the new trucks that came with the new types and the PA joint was failing. Its only 08-09 the people that put in on may be covered on that part. If you are not in the 08-09 and not under the 3-36 you are SOL.. You pay for it.
Mines and 03 and I will be paying..... Got 95K or so one it...

I guess you didn't read what I said?

I am fully aware that it's not a recall and that's the problem. I know I have to pay extra money to make my truck safe to drive at hwy speeds because Dodge can't get it right.

Maybe Dodge should ask customers if they want a real truck or the screwed up mess they built? Then they could charge the extra $600.00 in the show room for a safe truck as an option?

Not trying to start an arguement, but according to the NHTSA it is a recall. Chrysler has even assigned a safety recall number to it... H36
Link to NHTSA
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm
click safety recall in the box on the left, then click check safety recalls, and enter 09E001000 in the campaign number box.

I copied this directly from the link above

according to the info printed on the recall, it starts in "April of 2009". if this is the case, mileage on a vehicle shouldn't/wouldn't matter(?) IDK

when i purchased my truck @34K miles on the clock, the dealer "never" informed me of this defect/recall. so i have been driving around adding 20K additional miles on the trk. i'm wondering even with a date put on the document above, if they will still honor the recall regardless of mileage?

Have you done ANYTHING to your truck that would alter the factory geometry on the front end? (read your truck profile) If so expect to pay to get your individual custom setup corrected.........

if the condition was "present" prior to any suspension upgrades/modifications,
would it change the answer to the question asked?

back at you

I think if you go to the dealer compaining about the steering and you have a lifted or leveled truck the dealer wouldn't do anything for you, how do they know what it was like before your lift?

I have a leveling kit at home, April 1st my truck is 3 years old, I want to talk to the dealer about the front end before I install the lift.

I installed my level lift on my '08 when it was 36 hours and 1700 miles old. Since it is an early 08 (nov 07 build date), it had the old style setup. I had no problem getting the upgraded parts installed on the truck, under warranty. I also had the H34 recall performed on the truck even though I had an DPF delete, EGR delete, PMT, Power Puck, and everything else in my signature. I think most of the warranty coverage depends on the dealership and their "common sense" factor but a safety recall has always been, in my experience, something that will be performed on the dealer's dime on EVERY vehicle that it pertains to, regardless of age, mileage, and modifications. It is after all, just that; a SAFETY recall.

Well I had a headlight bulb burn out but that has nothing to do with Dodge's inability to make the steering safe?

If you bought a light switch for your house and when you turned it on you got a shock because they screwed up with the insulation would you think it's right that they sell you a kit to make it safe for use?

Pretty sad they don't have the skills to make a truck safe and want the customer to pay extra to fix their screw ups?

Next time I will buy a Toyota Tundra even if they don't offer a Cummins.

Have you experienced ANY stering problems yourself?

You're being awfull critical, every manufacturer has a few "issues" many of their owners don't even know about. You wouldn't even know about this steering thing if not for this forum.

If what Clane posted above holds true there'll be a recall and you should be happy.

I haven't had any problems with my steering, with my headligths or with the light switch, been a great truck so far. My only complaint is the lousy cloth seats that stain with water, but that's not enough to put me off ever buying another Dodge.

The H36 recall ONLY applies the the listed part numbers listed.
those part numbers are not what was originally installed on the '03-'08's but the "upgraded linkage". For this recall to apply, you will have to had the upgraded linkage installed prior to the recall.

The dealer looked at my truck and said "NOT covered under warranty" due to my lift, tires, and wheels and not covered by the safety recall since I don't already have the "upgraded linkage.
I have no problems paying for the new linkage if it is indeed more reliable.

Well Will,
I am sure Dodge is proud of your brand loyalty but could care less on the name on the tailgate. I paid for a safe well built truck and paid big money but so far I haven't received what I paid for. Yes I have had the DW problem and I wouldn't know what the hell it was if it wasn't for this site.

I haven't had a light switch problem with my truck but was trying to make a point about quality , safety and standing behind what you sell.

I have a long list of crap I have replaced on this truck and know I haven't got got my dollar value from Dodge and that's why I won't buy another.

I bet you will feel the same after your warranty is up.

Then that would mean that you don't need a real truck.....
