Is it true you cant get a Mineral grey Dually?
Is it true you cant get a Mineral grey Dually?
One of my good friends who has a white QC 4x4 LB dually told me that. I never asked the salesman when I bought my SRW with the sport package. But I was just curious if anyone has one?
I think that is odd
I would have LOVED to have a mineral grey 3500 DRW, 4x4, QC LB with the sport package
but its alrright. I love my truck, and I think mine is easier to park considering all the narrow twisty roads and driveways Im driving up and down all day for work..lol
those DRW's have fat rumps..

No, you cannot. I read a while back that the reason for this was that there are certain colors of paint that Dodge uses that will not stick to the dually fenders.
I'm not sure how accurate that is.
But I'd be all over a mineral gray dually!
One of my favorite color combos that Ford has is the mineral gray and black!
EDIT: Actually I just remembered that in a sense, you CAN get a mineral gray, electric blue, or whatever color dually... I believe the cab & chassis trucks are offered in any color. I saw an electric blue cab & chassis on a truck the other day. Absolutely beautiful!

Still pretty interesting. Im not a painter or anything. but you would think that Fenders would be just like any other auto surface and be able to have auto paint stick to them without an issue.
well shows what I know.

I wish the had one piece fenders, they look so much smoother.
I don't think it's a sticking related issue, I think they probably can't get a close enough color match with the different type of paint that is required.
Example: My 93 GT is Vermilion (Red) When I got an estimate for having her repainted the same color, they told me that Ford used 3 different types of paint for mine. The Body (Metal), the Bumper covers (Plastic/Rubber) and the valance and skirts (Plastic). The skirts and bumper covers required a paint the could flex with out cracking but had to be a different make-up of paint from each other. The results were as my paint started to fade (No clearcoats on Vermilion) my car was tri-colored. Oxidized red (Metal) slightly darker red but still shiny (Bumpers) and an almost pink (Valance/Skirts).

I have seen 2nd gens rolling around with electric blue in a dually with the sport package. But the reason they may not allow it is. Back in 1978 Pontiac built a Gold SE trans Am and the paint change color with in a couple month on the rubber nose. So maybe these colors do not stand up all that well on fiberglass
You guys may be right. I know it has something to do with the fenders, but I really can't recall exactly.
As for the second gens, I really wouldn't call that electric blue... its a little lighter of a shade. I really don't like that color. I love the electric blue on the 3rd gens, though.
