Mineral Grey or Silver Truck ????

I am looking at 2 identical trucks option wise except for the miles and color. Everything else is the same. One is Mineral Grey with lighter grey on the bottom and the other is silver. The silver one has 41000 miles and the other has 68000 miles. What do you guys think? I value all of your opinions. Pete

color is a personal thing, but i owned a 2nd gen in graphite (what they used to call mineral grey), and it's a great looking color and was a great middle-of-the-road color for not showing every speck of dirt, while not showing every scratch. i would own another in that color in a heartbeat- btw they look awesome with black wheels and all chrome blacked out.

I have a silver one. I'm biased. But it does match my hair color now.

I agree. For some reason mine was darker than most, and a lot of people referred to it as a black truck. One thing- black or dark graphite do show scratches a lot more easily than silver. Also, apparently siver is the most popular selling color in America, if that's important.

Thanks for the rplies. I really like the look of both and can't decide. I have had 2 dark green vehicles before and really liked the look but it was hard to keep clean and showed alot of scratches. Pete

I do like the two-tone look, but the Silver really hides the dirt well.

If you like both equally, I'd honestly go with the silver(even though I personally like black/graphite). The fact that small scratches and dust are less noticeable, and resale is not a problem. If there was a good deal on a well looked after silver truck, I wouldn't think twice about color.

Ok. The silver turck is a 2005 Quad Cab short bed 4x4 SLT Auto. It is a one owner truck and has 41,700 miles on it. It has the forged aluminum wheels and marker lights on the roof along with cloth interior and all of the options. Dealer gave me a price of $26,495. What do you guys think? Pete

I just bought the same truck about a month ago for 23.6K and it had 30K and was still under its factory warranty. Leather interior as well....One owner truck...babied for the 30K. Not a scratch or ding on the thing. Steps, gaudy **** chrome crap on the bottom and a silly gas cap dealie all included! The 5" cat back exhuast was an added bonus as well! I have since Edged it and installed a drop in filter and the thing flat out rips...I cant imagine wanting anymore power. I run around with my Edge at 3 and havent even felt the urge to try #4....Then again my fear of buying a new tranny this year probably outwieghs my urges!

I say shop around a bit or get him down in price. You can buy a new 2008 for a few grand more. Mine gonna take a beating a plow snow so my goal was to get in as cheap as possible and avoid the new engine until its perfected...Cant have that filter clogging up in the midst of a blizzard now....I actually found mine a derned VW dealer of all places as the dude had traded it for a TDI Jetta.

A clean 2005 with low miles is a 22.5K to 25K max unit. They just arent worth anymore than that......New 2008's can be had for 11K+ off sticker. So 43K minus say 11K is 32K. I wanted to be in mine at 22K flat. Wouldnt happen and the only thing that pushed me over the edge and me pony up the extra 1.6K was the fact that it had leather and was still on its factory 3/36 warranty.

In one month I have used that 3/36 3 times!
#1. Got the Trans TSB done the one that replaces the Governor solenoid pressure valve and fixes the evil hunting 1-2 shift.

#2.Bee-Yatched and moaned my way into a new track bar and a tie rod end as at 30K the original had a bit of play in it. Got an alignment and steering wheel centering as well. The front ends on tehse trucks are...Fragile? I fully expect to be repacing everything by the end of next years plowing season as the ball joints are a joke and the track bars and tie rod ends are made of glass. Matter of the whole front end needs beefing up IMO and I will be hot on the trail of some of that Thuren/Moog trick stuff next year when this stuff wears out!

#3. Got the truck reflashed and updated prior to edging it as now my warranty is gone.....

Ya I hear ya. They told me over the phone that they have the truck on the lot for 28900 and that the internet price was 26900 and they would lower it to 26495. I would love to get the truck because it is exactly what I want. I'm going to try and have the local dealer where I live that I'm working with try and get it cheaper. Pete

They'll go a lot lower $26,495. You know fuel is almost $4 a gallon it's not like people are knocking down the doors for these trucks. And besides that it's not the only silver ram in the world. Don't pay too much...
