Don Thuren was my answer...

Sage Carli and Defiant Truck Products sells Don's bar but charges you more for it.

KORE makes one but I bet its twice as much money.

Adjustability is a must if you make any changes to suspension height.

1. Why is adj a must if:

a. You use a drop bracket?
b. The bar is made to the right lenght?

2. Do you have to have a "bent" bar for non off road use? In otherwords has street only trucks hit their diffs?

You could use a drop bracket if you want, but why would you use a drop bracket that would increase moments only to remount the crappy factory bar? You may save a few bucks now, but you'll be paying for it later.

Yes, you need a bent bar. The stock bar is bent also.

If you don't use a drop bracket, and the bar is made to the proper extended lenght, why would you need it to be adj?

If your truck is higher and you don't use a drop bracket, why does the bar have to be bent?

Not trying to flame, but why spend the money if you don't need to.

You could use a non-adjustable bar built to the proper length but you'll have to have it custom made, unless you buy an off-the-shelf lift kit that comes with one. At this time I'm not aware of a single kit that does. The kits I know of all use cheaper drop brackets.

The bar has to be bent to clear the differential center section. If you're lifted high enough you may be able to get by with a straight bar but I'm not positive. However, if you use a drop bracket then you just lowered the upper mount right back where you started and will need a bent bar.

Here's my attitude on the subject: Do it right or don't do it at all. I'd rather eat off the $0.99 menu and drink water for a month and buy the best bar than go with a lower quality alternative.

If the bar is made to the exact length you need then you wouldn't need the adjustable bar. Only thing is that cannot adjust it if you change the height again.

The bar has to be bent to clear the pumpkin in the front axle when the axle and bar move.

I agree 110% on this. I have screwed around trying different things only to have a messed up truck that hasn't driven properly since. My suspension from Sage Carli will be here tomorrow. I'm going to take out my coil spacers, track bar drop bracket, and longer drop pitman arm at the same time. I spent the money on all this stuff just to take it out and go the right way in the end.

And by the time you fabricate that custom upper mount you could have got the adjustable bar. I paid $275 shipped for mine.

Well I just noticed the price has gone up on the bar to $335 straight from Don Thuren. It was $279. I bought mine from a DTR member for $275 NIB.

Can you share? In a PM?

That web site says $344.

ALSO I thought it said that bar was only good for up to 3" lift.

I have made several track bars for my truck (Don wasn’t making anything for the 3rd gen at that time). The bar definitely cannot be straight, also it must be adjustable unless you know the exact length you need and can hold a tight tolerance on the length. Don has done his homework on this and knows what will work, I am sure he will make you one for a taller lift if you need one.
