Towing w/2008 single wheel 3500???

Hello to all, I'm thinking about purchasing a leftover 08 3500 single wheel short bed 6.7 diesel. The price is crazy low and the truck is sweet no doubt about that. My only question about the truck is how some of you dodge owners feel about it pulling a 34 foot travel trailer with it. I'm concerned with how much it is going to sway?? I have a 2500 Chev now and it doesn't like it at all. Wind or no wind it does not like being on the interstate pulling my trailer. So before I purchase this awesome truck I was hoping for some feedback on how they tow something of that size? I don't want to get it just because it is a good deal, I want it to pull my trailer without crazy sway being a factor. Thanks in advance.

I actually have a 07 3500 mega and a 34' Dutchmen TT, as well as a 10k equalizer hitch. Pulls awesome. Nice and solid.

Is it a 5th wheel or tag hitch? Either way you may want to upgrade the shocks to something a bit firmer, like KYB monomax or Bilstein. I tow a 24' enclosed car hauler (tag) and the truck is much more stable with the KYBs. I hardly notice the trailer except on rough rodes. The stock shocks allow to much up and down movement in the front end.
If your trailer is a 5er, it should set the rear on the secondary springs and make it more stable than a 2500. I'm sure there's people out there with this setup that could give better info.
My neighbor tows a 30-32ft 5er with a '99 F250 from IN to AZ and has no problems with it.

I tow a 30' TT (bumper pull) it's dry weight is 9550, loaded is right at 11K. I have a weight distributing hitch witha sway bar. Also have Firestone Ride Rite air bags and a Helwig (rear) stabalizer. Even before adding the air bags and the stabalizer, the Dodge pulled it without sway but I had a little body roll. After installing the air bags and sway bar, solid as a rock.

Sway is the product of poor set-up of the trailer. Too little tongue weight, weight distribution not right, trailer nose high or nose low. Lots of things can contribute to sway.

A lot of guys think that because they have a "big" truck it'll tow anything they can slap on the hitch. Of course it'll tow it,but they might not like it.

I pulled my dads trailer yeaterday. Its 35' long and weighs near 10,000lbs. I pulled it just under 100 miles and it pulled rock solid. Not a hint of sway.

Of course he has a quality W/D system and actually set it up correctly. He hit the weigh station, got some weights an spent an afternoon fine tuning it.

If i were pulling something that big long distances I'd go for a dually to be safe.

thanks guys..

I appreciate all of you taking the time to reply to my questions. I think i am going to go get the truck. The deal is too good to pass up. I do know that a dually would be better but they dont have one for sale and to be honest i dont want another dually. I have had three : )
