Door speaker question
So, I'm putting 6.5" mids in my front doors on my 03 and was curious to know if 6.5's will fit in the rear doors, also. I have yet to take the rear door panels off to investigate. I have been told the OEM's are 5.25's.
So, anyone jammed 6.5's in the rear QC doors?

from my observations, the stock front and rear speakers are out of phase
so if you hook new speakers up to the OEM wiring or OEM deck,
check the phase by listening to some bass in a quiet place

Fronts are 6x9 and require adapter plates for 6.5s.
I think the rears are 5.25. I put 6.5s in the rear and had to make adapters. the 6.5 would not even sit flush on the door because the opening was too small. I made some 1/2" spacers out of wood. I attached the spacer to the door and then attached the speaker to the spacer.

6.5s i believe came stock with the infinity stereo the regular stock stereo came with 5 1/4 's (5 1/4s are what i have in my rear doors) i like the idea of 1/2 inch spacers though

I didn't think about the Infinity system being different. Mine was the std system. So you think they make different inner doors for the different speakers?
i just pulled the rear speaker out of mine tonight, its infinity, and rear speaker was 5.25, with an odd 3 bolt to fasten to the door. i am just looking up different plates to adapt the new 4 tab speakers to the 3 tab thats in the door. i might just make up the spacers though.already bought the plates for the 6.5 for the front doors.
I put 6x9s in my front doors and 6.5s in the rear on my old '05, made a huge improvement over the stock speakers.
If you do 6x9s take off the stock plastic spacer and reuse it under the new speakers.(and make sure you have that little box orientated correctly so it doesnt hang up the window track when it moves up/down.)
I found that out after I had it all back together and tried to roll the windows down

So, the JBL 6.5" 2 ways that I want to put in the rear may or may not need a spacer. I'll definitely make sure to check for proper window clearance. The Alpine mid bass 6.5's in the front didn't have any clearance issues with the windows.
How did you guys run your speaker wires from the cab to the doors? I'm trying to figure out how to fish 14 gauge speaker wire through the rubber conduits but it looks like a real pain. With the speaker swaps under way, I'm no longer using deck power and will be running off of a 5 channel Audison amp so I have to fish new speaker wires to all the doors.

^Nobody knows how to fish new speaker wires into the doors and bypass the connectors at the OEM rubber conduit? Or do people just run a 2nd conduit with the new wires? That seems like a pain.
I drilled new holes in the door frame area, installed grommets, and then made a hole in the door rubber grommet to run the wires into. I used a sharp awl/pick to poke a hole in the rubber grommet. It takes some work to get the wire thru the hole. Also put silicone on the new grommet I added to seal it up good around the wires. I can post some pics if you need them.
