Ok answer me this one. If you were in a side crash, would you rather have the tint hold the glass in 1 piece, or would you rather have hundreds of little pieces thrown into your face? To me having window film tint is way safer on your windows. Even with the tint , you can still push the glass out if you are in an accident.

I'm thinkin it's the same as BC, front tinted widows are illegal, not just the film.
If the cops make you remove your film you're out some money and will probly be unhappy, if they made you remove your $1500 glass I bet you'll be just a little more angry.

I was told dark tinted driver's windows are not liked cuz the cops can't see what you're doing inside, if you have a gun aimed at them when they're approaching your vehicle.

I didn't say they couldn't do it - i said it just becomes more difficult . . .

note in my post i was referring to those who are incapable of helping/protecting themselves as opposed to those that are physically capable.

that is one scenario where it may be beneficial . . .

Answer me this one - Would you rather have it fall apart/be missing when you have to climb out of a rollover? Or would you rather have it stay together and put your forearm through it trying to push it out?
(obviously here we are talking about those capable of helping themselves.)

There are multiple scenarios where it can be a pro or a con in a wreck . . .

You could argue either side for hours. I like it for the heat factor down here, you have no clue how much it helps in the summer time.

The reason it is illegal is because of the safety factor. LEO safety. I creates a potentially deadly situation when on a traffic stop. I always roll my windows down if I get pulled over. The officer can choose to make me roll them up and cite me if he chooses.

Has anyone ever heard of getting our windows dipped ? The cop that made me peal off my film said something about dipping the windows and then they cannot do anything about it . I use a laptop in my truck daily so it helps to have the windows tinted to see the screen and keep it coolers in the summer. Plus the truck just looks better with tint onthe windows. As far as safty goes my drivers window cracked from a rock just like the front windshield does . As far a the cops needing to see inside the only time that might be a problem is at night and everyone rolls down the window if they get stopped anyways. Just a money grab ticket if you get one .

guys, i didn't say it is the only reason, i said it is one of the reasons.

there are other reasons as well - LEO safety, ability to make eye contact with other drivers, ability to see out at night, etc. etc.

i am not saying they are bad or you shouldn't them on your truck, just giving reasons for the OP to make his decision. FWIW - i have tinted front windows on my truck . . . i too love it for summer daytime driving, really keeps the heat down, and it's much easier on the eyes.

And for the record, I have been pulled over less since I got out of LE. Something about loosing that get out of jail free card thatll make you think.

Not arguing, should have made what I said a bit clearer, I meant that in Louisiana the reason its illegal is officer safety. Cant speak for other areas.
