Thuren Track Bar. How to center axle?

Hey guys, I am new to adjustable track bars. I have my Thuren Track Bar painted and ready to install. I have taken a look under the truck and have read how to use turning the wheels from side to side to get the old one out and the new one in. My question is this: how much longer/shorter than the stock track bar do i adjust my Thuren track bar to in order to perfectly align the axle? Also where are you guys measuring to get an accurate measurement of offset? I have measured about 50 different times and get differences ranging from 3/8" to 1 1/2"

I just installed my adj track bar. What I did was jack the truck up and put jack stands under the axle, made sure the truck is level, then bounced the truck to get the truck to center itself over the axle. I then tied a lug nut to a string and made a plumb bob set up to hang from the fender on each side (just masking tape to the fender). measure from the hanging string to the rotor or hub on each side to see if it is the same. I have an 05 and mesured 3-3/4 from string to hub (between lug studs) same on both sides. Measure between the track bar holes center to center and make the adj bar the same. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply but, due to my level lift, i need the Thuren bar to be either a bit longer or a bit shorter to recenter the axle under the truck so making the Thuren bar the same length as the stock track bar won't center the axle. Any ideas on which way (shorter or longer) i need to go in order to center the axle?

I just read somewhere to set it at 39 1/8 to start with. Won't be perfect but keeps you from banging up stuff as the axle cycles.

what size leveing kit did you put on- 1.5"? 2'"? if you have 1.5" leveling kit, you need to extend the trac bar 3/16. if it is 2", you need to extend the trac bar 1/4 of an inch.

That's what Carli set mine at. Tires wear normally and it tracks great. Tires are still slightly over to driver's side but they said that's the max they can set it at. I running a Lorenz 2" front lift. I think you measure from center of hole to hole.

For my Thuren 3" Lift, he specifically told me 39 1/16", but if you're at 2" you should probably be about 39", maybe even closer to 38 15/16".

I do have a 2 inch level kit on my rig. The track bar will need to be longer to center the axle. My axle sits perfect now. If you want I can get the measurement.

I installed it yesterday. I set it at 39" and it was still a bit to the driver's side. So i adjusted to 39 1/8", center to center, and it looks about perfect now. Thanks for the info guys.

On a side note, I had to buy new hardware to mount it as the bolts that were on the factory track bar were too large to go through the Thuren track bar (i think they were 5/8" bolts). I got some grade 8 16mm bolts, lock washers, and nuts and used them to install the Thuren track bar. Has anyone else encountered this? I am wondering if it is an '08-specific occurance due to the "revised" track bar on the '08s. If so, Im going to contact Don so he can at least notify any future buyers that have '08 trucks.

Hope you don't get a "clunk" from using bolts too small for the existing mounts.
Lotsa people say you have to REALLY torque on those track bar bolts or you get a clunk.
