Thinking of upgrading
Thinking of upgrading
My 96 has a couple of minor mechanical problems and a bit of rust on the front fenders behind the wheels but otherwise is in great shape. Probably could fix everything including rust for about $3K but have been thinking of a new truck (06 or 07, QC 3500 LB SRW 4x4) and switching up to 4x4.
Have all of you that switched up to a 24v been happy with your decision? Is it worth upgrading or will I wish I kept the bullet proof 12v? I know I will loose a little on fuel economy and the savings will take a big hit and back to payments but I will gain the comfort of warranty and 2 more wheels to pull me through the snow.

I have never had a 12 valve for comparison. But, that said...I think most people on this board are very happy with the common rails. If you want a new truck, go for it. You could still keep the 96 as a "classic". It is probably worth more to you than a dealer.
I loved my old 12v. It had lots of low end tourqe punch. I had a 4in exhaust on it and I could wake the dead. Those are the things I miss about my old truck. But the new 600 is quieter and smoother and faster. Now I only remember how much I loved my old truck when I pull up beside a loud 12v at the set of lights. The 12v is rumbling away. Smelling of rich unburned deisel fumes.... So how much you looking to get for your old truck
