Upgrading a '99

I have a 99 shortbed 2500 5 speed with 3:54 gears. I have installed a K&N Filter plus pillar mounted boost gauge and pyrometer. I would like to know what would be a good next step to increase my power. I pull a 31' 5th wheel camper.
How much HP are you wanting to gain?

There are all kinds of fueling upgrades out there but the best bang for the buck as to be an Edge EZ.

I know of 2 guys on here that just put an EZ on there 99s and they love them. Hopefully one of them will jump in here and tell you what they think. DD4x4, CH where you guys at?

You might want to check out the Tech Facts at the top of the page, lots of good info stuffed in there too. 8)

DB

Go for the EZ and start from there.
Let your wallet be your guide cause your brain loses all contact with reality and common sense as soon as you drop that hammer the first time with that EZ.
Already got the bug for bigger injectors.

B.O.M.B.s away.

OOPS........
(checks to see if top is running for cover) ;D

I guess the first thing I would do is replace the K&N with the stock filter box or a Scotty II. I like the Scotty II cuz it sucks cooler air, and it uses an AFE filter vs. K&N. I'm not a huge fan of K&N because they measure their filtration on coarse dust where AFE measures on fine. AFE also has better flow.

After that, you could go with an Edge EZ or COMP. If you go with the comp, a tranny upgrade is a must, regardless of auto or manual.

By the way, you can find the new EZ's and Comps in our online store. We have the lowest price available from legitimate vendors (anything lower is not allowed by the manufacturer). Plus, it helps the site stay alive.

You might also look in the classifieds because there are some used ones in there. Good luck with it.

I have the Edge EZ (jumper on one) and the power increase was very noticeable. I may go back to jumper on two altho it smokes a little more...

Re:Upgrading a '99

I just bombed my 99 Dually. I first drove Cattle Haulers with the edge ez. Man what a difference from stock. A big difference. Dieseldude4x4 got one back in November and posted Holy COW and WOW! You may want to go back and find that thread.
Anyway. In the meantime I had to replace the stock clutch so I added the SB Con Fe. I decided to go with the Power Max 3. I love it. Of course I didnt stop there. Someday Soon I will be adding injectors and 4 inch exhaust to the 5 inch stacks and an AFE filter.
Look at the edge ez. Find a truck with one and drive it. You will want it.

Oh by the way Huey has one too.

Rocketman, all good advice. ;D

I would also advise you to add a Fuel Pressure guage to your BOMBing plans, as a failure of the pesky Lift Pump could put a huge damper on your plans, by taking out the injector pump.
I've got an Edge Comp on my '99 (no pump wire yet ) so it acts like an EZ.
I can tell you the difference between stock @ ~179 hp, and EZed ~221 hp is a kick ;D.
My torque EZed was ~468.

Re:Upgrading a '99

Shovelhead is right about that. Put the gauge in. It will save you money!!!!!!!!! The lift pump is a weak link in the cummins armor :'(
