It will be exactly the same width. The width of 285 mm is 11.2 inches. The height will be 285 mm *.75*2, or 16.8 inches, + 17 inch rim = 33.8 inches tall.

taller tires

If you are willing to go to 31.8" diameter tires, then the best bet for mpg would be 235 80 17's. I have 265 70 17 on mine and I am willing to bet that if I change to the 235's, I will see a 1, maybe a 2 mpg increase.

Is anyone running this size tire and have you seen an increase in your previous size?

Every last one of you should get your name in on the list in this thread if you haven't already done so : https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=183470

Behind your name and location, add in the size you want!

I am already there! When will it be going to someone who might actually read it and do something for us?

Glad to see this post just when im in need of new tires sooner than later.

I also would like a taller tire lower my RPM's a bit more, was debating on 19.5's to get more life out of my tires (my 17's only last me like 8-9 months) but doesnt seem like you get that much more tire life out of them than 17's then with the added cost seems almost like a wash unless you get the 19.5's for free or next to nothing.

Anyone running 19.5's towing? what kind of life do you get out of them by chance?

2250....id like around 2000 or less.

I bought a GV overdrive but returned it because i tow very heavy on occasion and was afraid of blowing it up backing up hills. Im looking into a 3.42 gear swap.

I do alot of interstate driving

Are you sure you have 3:73s or do you have 4:11s? I see that you have a newer truck than mine but I run slightly less than 2000 at 70 mph and I have 3:73s.

I have a calculator for tires as well as rear end ratio if you want to play with it to see what changes will affect your rpm as a function of tire size / rear end gear. The calculator uses the tire spec criteria, 245 / 75/ 17, so you can look up sizes on tirerack of different sizes to see what the effects are.

I am considering 235 / 80 / 17 for my next set. Is anyone running these on a non dually truck and if so, did you see an increase in mpg versus the 265s?

Thanks
Scott

Yes i have 3.73's, i have a shallower OD ratio than you(.79) rather than your .72?

I made my own little chart at work one day. I use a formula to get rpm etc.

mph/tire size * 336 *Final gear ratio

example....
my final ratio is 3.73*.79=2.95

70/31.2*336*2.95=2224rpm @ 70 mph
