Sway bar end link install?

My sway bar end links have been making a racket for a while and now the driver's side is looking slightly askew at the boot. I will probably order a set of maxx links from summit (part# 1226) this week. Is this a simple remove/replace with hand tools or do I need anything special to complete this job? Torque wrench settings?

I needed a tie rod tool to break mine free but other than that it was pretty easy.

Fairly simple job. Mine about fell out. Toughest part is holding the bottom cup/bolt in place while torquing the nut on the MaxxLink (use a screw driver before installing the new bolt shaft in place - make sure it's aligned properly)

Torque values are fairly low. I think 40ftlbs on the bottom nut and on the top nut barely enough to squish the bushing even with the edge of the washer.

I have also been told MaxLink is a good product to use. They show an extended unit for lifts.. If a user has taller tires should the longer MaxLinks be selected?

I have 34" tires on my truck and stock tires were 31.5" Should I be using the extended Maxlink or stock length?

The extended length (designated by the "L" at the end of the part number) should be used for trucks with a leveling kit. Otherwise use the regular length.

I used the extended length since I've got a leveling kit.

Easy job with simple hand tools, I had to use a BFH to get the old ones out. Other than that took me about 20 min to do.... Shorts is right the L designation is for leveled trucks.. Maxx links comes with instructions with torque specs... Good luck....

Unless you have drop blocks between the frame and the sway bar mounts, which effectively keeps the OE sway bar geometry. Then use the normal, non-lifted links.
